The Would Be Emperors have been playing Manchester and the Northwest for two years. In that time we've gigged at the Cavern Liverpool, The Dry Bar, Matt and Phreds, Night and Day, The Studio, The Star and Garter and The Ruby Lounge as well as playing MAPS and the ITC Fringe festivals. We've had airplay on BBC Manchester and been listed as their Introducing Artist Of the Week. We've played unplugged sets for a variety of local Manchester radio stations, and had airplay as far afield as Austria and Colorado. .. .. ....Contact us at:.. thewouldbeemperors@hotmail.co.uk... Don’t reach for the platform shoes just yet. What we’re talking about here is a busy flurry of sequencing and almost-to-the-point-of-sampled guitar loops, all cascading in a style that immediately reminds you of the edgy pop excellence of someone like Reverend And The Makers - a classy parallel it is too. “Funkchester” is a stylish and well executed example of the Emperors abilities, whilst “She’ll Shine For You” is drifting indie, that makes it clear that there’s a good bit of song writing talent going on here. “Q & A” may also be an attractive proposition...A fine demo all round from an honest to god band who can most definitely write catchy songs.".. .. review courtesy of www.manchestermusic.co.uk.. ....“Go With The Flow”..... ‘there’s a great guitar hook and a very memorable chorus – you definitely aren’t going to forget it quickly. Elsewhere the band veer from the pounding electro and strident bass of the first track for a funkier disco outing on “For The Taking”. “Play The Game” opens with another great guitar hook, whilst the drums ensure there’s an exciting rhythm to compliment their simple but fresh brand of indie dance and rock. Another superb production job from John Kettle too who’s captured the vibrancy of a young band finding their way, but kept it all tight, exposing only their best moments.’.. .. review courtesy of www.manchestermusic.co.uk..
