Rosie and Caz met almost 4 years ago on a UK Michelle Branch message board and instantly knew they'd met someone cool in the other. Rosie would post mp3s of her songs and Caz would download them thinking "Damn she's good!" The two girls got on so well, that when they found out they were both going to see Hanson play at Shepherd's Bush in November 2005, they decided to meet up. They became close friends and began to discuss songwriting, recording and influences. Turned out they were pretty damn similar. After a spell of writer's block, Rosie went to Caz and asked to borrow some lyrics to write music for, and thus the subject of writing together was broached.
This whole thing started out as a joke between Rosie and Caz, and numerous other people on a message board for a band called The Wreckers (geddit?), but in the end it caused the girls to write their first song together. Public Transport Sucks is a rant at London Public Transport and was inspired by Caz once having to walk round Earl's Court at 3 in the morning after a Stumble gig. It may be silly, but it got the ball rolling.
In September 2005, Caz went to stay with Rosie in the middle of Devon and the two wrote and recorded their first EP. During the trip the two girls re-established their love (read: obsession) for Michelle Branch, watched hours of One Tree Hill, squealed a lot when Tyler Hilton came on TV, sang the theme song for OTH loudly *every* time it played, refused to eat at the dinner table whilst the World Music Awards were on because they wanted to watch Michelle Branch play with Santana and played an intimate acoustic show to Rosie's parents. On the Saturday of Caz's trip, Rosie actually had a gig and so the girls decided to perform live together for a crowd. They sang a cover of The Wreckers Lay Me Down, which would later be re-recorded for the EP, and despite Caz's mic not being turn on cos the sound engineer didn't realise she was going to sing, it went pretty well.
Most of the Wrockin' Your Home Like Thurrs No Tomorrow EP was recorded the night before Caz was due to leave Devon, which is why at the beginning of Silently Serious you can hear "It's 3 o'clock in the morning - I WANT TO SLEEP!"... Each song comes complete with giggles and silly comments such as "Sharky and George!" (they were watching Jaws on mute whilst recording). The EP contains 4 original songs, a cover of the Ryan Adams song When The Stars Go Blue and of course the girls cover of The Wreckers Lay Me Down. A few lucky people out there have the "bonus" track which is a cock up of When The Stars Go Blue, a lot of laughter and sillyness!
