About me:
The Story: An isolated house in the woods looks like an easy mark to a group of friends camping in the Maine wilderness. The thieves haul away several ounces of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms in the heist. But after returning home, each of the thieves is visited by the robbed homeowners, who deliver an ultimatum to return what was stolen. Thinking the homeowners can’t call the police to report stolen drugs, they ignore the warnings. When the deadline passes and the drugs aren’t returned, the five thieves learn too late that there are far worse things than being arrested—and that they picked on The Wrong House.
The story behind the story: After a rash of area burglaries in March 2008, husband-wife producers Shawn French and Sue Stevens came up with the premise for The Wrong House. Initially, it was an outlet to vent frustration, but as the story fell into place it became clear this was a film they needed to make. A strong narrative structure, increasing tension as the thieves argue whether to return the stolen goods, and a pair of serial killers who believe themselves to be agents of karma combine for a perfect blend of suspense and horror.
Writer/director Shawn French of Wisdumb Productions has a decade of stage experience as a stand-up comic and appeared in the feature films, "The Miskatonic Acid Test," "2" and "Monster in the Woods." His background includes acting, boxing, stuntwork, film crew work, writing and editing.
Executive producer Olin Smith of Motion Media Entertainment has produced five previous films, including "2" and the Bigfoot comedy "Monster in the Woods."
