About theXplodingboys - Cure tribute - Portland, OR

formed in 2000, the portland, oregon, USA based music group theXplodingboys (one E, capital X, no spaces) may well be the longest-running cure tribute band in the world.
theXplodingboys is comprised of die-hard cure fans whose knowledge spans every song ever to hit stage, vinyl, analogue tape or binary code. they also happen to be accomplished musicians, and it shows. dynamics, nuances and an occasional twist or mash-up are carefully thought out and worked in, and set lists are crafted to enhance the impact of every song.
named after a cathartic but obscure head on the door b-side, it's not surprising that theXplodingboys deliver more than a collection of best-of singles. live shows are the full cure experience. fans and non-fans alike are impressed both by the breadth of catalogue and the musicianship. the songs are all there--from boys don't cry to bloodflowers, from singles to b-sides--and requests are always encouraged! and whether people know the songs or not they are impressed with the musical abilities of theXplodingboys, and by extension the cure's. indeed, theXplodingboys have been creating new cure fans for nearly ten years now!

we are pleased to announce an 11th april 09 show at the know with forgeries and dj wednesday! tXb will be playing a stripped-down (ok, only one keyboard) show. the forgeries, with members of once in the sun, princess ugly and and faith and the muse, will open the evening by slathering you with dark and danceable indie rock and post-punk goodness, and dj wednesday will fill in the blanks. be sure to dress warmly.
