How to Make Orchestral Pop Rocks:
1 part Giant-brand vocals (Marisa Demarco)
1 part jazz/rock/classical stick skills (Ryan Jarvis)
1 part gorgeous, melodic guitar (Carlos Garcia)
1 part textured, groundshaking/breaking bass (Monica Demarco)
sprinkle liberally with painful, fizzing candy
add carbonation
served best immediately in a purple cauldron with claw feet
"Isn't Pretty" is the bang-up third release in seven (or so) years. Its predecessors "What Grenade ?1?" (2003) and "Pink Insides" (2005) show a clear progression of songwriting and skill growth. Ya Ya Boom climbed the candy mountain, and the peak is in sight. It's latest effort, recorded and mixed at guitarist Carlos Garcia's studio, is a sugary effort with a hints of sour.
In less metaphoric terms, we're talking intricate vocal harmonies, bass lines that are oh so much more, complex rhythms, hook-laden guitars and exploding choruses.
Ya Ya Boom has never been the same band twice. The group never wrote the same song twice, and every year brings new experiments adorned with biting hooks and lavish effects. Bolder, more confident, after some micro-tours and plenty of time in Albuquerque's scene, Ya Ya Boom crackles and pops, twists and spins, and bites at you with sweet sweet teeth.

We are hosting a benefit for Warehouse 508 June 27th. It will be located at the Hastings parking lot on the corner of Wyoming and Montgomery from 12 noon to 8 pm. We are looking for bands to perform. I am interested in music such as Hip Hop, Punk/Hardcore, and Indie. If your band is interested in performing please let me know ASAP. June 27th isn't far away and we need to get the word out.
Also, I'm interested in having Graffiti artists do a piece live that would be auctioned off for charity. If any artist is interested in setting up a booth we are negotiating a booth price. As of this moment I haven't heard anything.
Please, come out and support this great cause for an all ages center!
