here it is! The first recording of A Middle Sex as a three piece. It was recorded live at the Klondyke Club, Levenshulme, Manchester, on that memorable night of Firday 18th April. The bill was Beach Fuzz, Trinity, A Middle Sex, Temperatures and Slasher Risk. All bands have a myspace page, except for Trinity who can be contacted vire www. myspace. com/lorgenstein. The track recorded on our page from that night is a segment of a 8 minute piece we call 'pat your 14'. It was recorded by James from Temperatures using Bi-Nueral microphones. Enjoy......
Slasher Risk are a boy/girl duo from Brooklyn, NY. Part brain dead beast, part mermaid. Desolate, metallic wrong-side-of-the-track atmospheres, kraut/garage jams and on their new LP ' Triple Jesus', zoned out, beautiful dueling psych guitar in the vein of Charalambides/Tom Carter project stuff. BZZZ!
Temperatures
Another duo, this time from London. Totally incredible merge of free drumming, weirdo bass and vocal, hell hole abyss/Skynet electronic landscapes and serious WTF rhythmic jams. Hard to pin. In the words of musical grandad Thurston Moore on their LP 'Ymir' - "just play the fucking record and that's all the information you need".
Beach Fuzz
Levitation act courtesy of Nick Mitchell, Barry Dean and Tom Settle. Reaching an apex in the mind of the third ear via tribal drumming, guitar blowouts, organ drones and monged vocal magic ascension. Something of Boredoms and Skaters, but for sure - They are Beach Fuzz. Releases on Lotus Birth and Golden Lab.
Trinity
Enter the world of candle lit basement meetings, alien existance, pentagrams, secret handshakes and ouija board action. Are these 6 men the Free Masons of psych rock? Ash Ra Tempel/Circle face melts, walls of drone and terrifyingly, the ghost of Luciano Pavarotti.
A Middle Sex
Neither Nor. Out of the jungles of M19 comes chamelion drumming, schizophrenic guitar moves, abused electronics/vocals and 'Heathen Earth' era Throbbing Gristle atmospheres. Releases of Blackest Rainbow and Slightly Off Kilter. New shiz soon.
And, lo, they took abstract art out to a little house in the middle of nowhere to raise some children. The video says more than a thousand books could, Paul. Good show.
oh...crap...just realised your performance is tomorrow and I'm not going to be in Newcastle. Rubbish. I say. rubbish. Hope it goes well at the Buddle. much love x
what an interesting set of circumstances video documentation allows....i had the volume muted by chance and was flipping through the videos. if i didn't know better i'd definately say you guys look like bunch of crazies. maybe some time soon i can have the chance to catch a performance. (at asu maybe? there is supposedly a crazy little spot - decision theatre for a desert city) i'll let the thought percolate...keep working hard.
