Country...Rock...Blues...Soul...why categorize it? The ZHB breaks the rules. We try to blur the lines and avoid any specific genre...it's just the music. Some call us Texas or Red Dirt Country and some call us a straight up Rock band...yet we give up a two step on occasion. Ultimately we just strive to achieve a sound that makes everyone wanna get up and wiggle.
Zane Henley is the founder of the band. His background is blues, classic rock and traditional country. He plays guitar and does the mic thing. He plays Fender guitars and Fender amps...exclusively. That's where the tone is. He uses a Martin acoustic when the situation requires one. He has played in various Blues and Classic Rock bands in the metroplex for the past 15 years or so. G & E strings on his Stratocasters have very short lives !!!
Chris Staggs is the guitarist extraordinaire. His background is all over the place...from bues to classic rock to heavy metal to classical. He plays a hand built Stratocaster primarily as well as off the rack Fender guitars. He plays through a modifiied Fender Deluxe Amp. He has played in a number of blues and rock bands over the years. Many, many guitars and stomp boxes have met their demise, or resurrection, under the steady hand, and "creative" imagination of Staggs...and oh yeah, a soldering iron. His tone is insane !!
Dan Wilson is the most recent addition to the band, and plays bass. He also plays guitar and some keys. More details on Dan to follow.... ....
All in all, these four guys bring a very diverse mix of musical background, experience and exposure to the Red Dirt/Texas Country scene. If you dig that sound, and dig "on the spot" jams and improv seques...then come check out the ZHB.
If I wasn't up here in Denver I would jump at the chance to write some tunes and have fun on stage playing drums for The ZHB. However I am stuck here in Colorado playing with myself in the basement. I sometimes play the drums while I'm in the basement as well.
Hey guys, it was great to party with you one last time the other night! Good show. You're in good hands with Albert. He's a solid cat! I wish the best of luck to all of you and it was so great to be a part of your world while it lasted!
ZHB, I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of Kelly and all of Matt's family for giving up a Saturday night to come and play the benefit. You're the best!!
