BOB SPENCE Lead Vocals/Guitar, PAUL HILL Drums, GARY SMITH Bass/Vocals & MARK FAULKNER Guitar/Vocals. In the late 70's THE ZEROS gigged in and around Northamptonshire and surrounding area with bands such as Bauhaus, UK Decay, Isaws, Spizz Energi and a bunch of others too! Almost an exercise in controlled chaos THE ZEROS generated a loyal following of fans. Formed by school buddies Bob and Mark, Gary joined and finally Paul was recruited. Several months of practice went .. THE ZEROS commenced gigging, a set of original songs such as 'Siren' 'Stranger In The City' 'Modern Girls' was punctuated with some sharply chosen covers, 'Heatwave' 'Twist & Shout' 'Sha La La Lee'. THE ZEROS high energy live perfomances with Gary doing his 'Townsend-esque' leaps (perhaps being a European Skateboard Champion before THE ZEROS had something to do with that?) and Paul's 'Moon-like' drumming comparisions with The Who where inevitable, but THE ZEROS where no 'poor mans Who' they where their own band. Bob's perceptive lyrics and tuneful delivery complimented by Mark's 'I'm so cool I make myself sick' (kidding) stage persona made THE ZEROS a compelling live act. Very quickly they became a hit with the fans. The preparation and planning showed. Every detail of THE ZEROS was maticulous image was everything (the mod ethic) the sharpest clothes, slick posters (most of the time), the coolest chicks, scooters, it was all important, it was all mod.
