"The Zetland Players do something with music that other bands are finding harder and harder to do. They make you dream and move to the music. In the venue, I saw an old couple waltz and a pirate applaud a ship captain. Others danced a jig and ate strawberries from champagne flutes. Even I, usually dead on my feet, began tapping my toes, and didn’t wake up until the music had stopped."
***** (five stars) MUSIC-NEWS; Live Gig Review
"They inject their usual rampant energy into every song and, I think the mass turn out would agree, style oozes from their every chord."

"a rollicking press ganged rum soaked stirring shanty of some measure borne out of a rampantly energised acoustically strummed swing-tastic toe tapping saga from the high seas braided by deliciously decoded flotillas of hauntingly shimmering jangles to deliver a homely brew of chest beating goo that catapults you through a myriad of emotions while it freewheels through an eye pokingly ramshackle and finitely crooked fun filled sidestepping haze of furious folk and moments of tranquil mellowness." Jan 2007 DEBUT E.P ’Making Friends With...’
"Songs as perfect as Staten Island Serenade defy comparisons to other bands, and as stated earlier, the music has such a crisp, defined sound, and it’s so pleasurable to listen, to that you forget about all your minor troubles, like writing semi-readable reviews...There really aren’t any weak tracks on this (thankfully) very long EP"
Lobster Quadrille Magazine
"Swinging like a world war to big band and happier than a barrel full of cockatoos."
Alex Gale, New-Noise.net
"This collection of songs is an excitable and contemporary mixture of folk and pop. The Zetland Players are filled with potential."

Enough shameless self promotion, you wanted to know about the band, didn’t you?
History lesson:
Boy, have we got a story for you! Well, a fairly good one. Our band is the oldest pop group in the UK, dating back to 1947, and our average age is 25. How do you like that?
Wipers Grandad started the Zetland Players in ’47 after the great war and the band legacy has been handed down the bass playing generations ever since, taking it’s most recent form as original swing pop strange acoustic stuff.
Tobias and Wiper went to America and wasted loads of money. Then they came to London and met Adrian and eventually became good. Now they have long time friend Tom playing superfine swinging percussion. Tom has a moustache, but he wears it well. They’re a great set of good-lads and like Big and Rich they love everyone*
