The Ziggurat is alive and well once again. Playing shows and taking the area by storm! Sterthanas is back on drum and the newest member Chris Hoff is destroying the bass! Keep your eyes here for updates on upcoming shows and appearances!
1997. Radford, Virginia. The Stars had aligned. The dark voice of ancient beings spoke. The past had awakened. And from this rose The Ziggurat.
For over 10 years, The Ziggurat has strived to delve into the darkest corners of mans fear, and bring the horrors found there to life through the illimitable power of heavy metal! For almost 6 years, The Ziggurat performed live. And during that time had never recorded a album or demo. In 2004, after many lineup changes, The Ziggurat brought you “Hymns of the Cthulhu Mythos”. A miasma of seething Black/Death metal insanity that created a cult following across the world. With tracks such as, “Within the Central Void”, "Beyond the Reef", "Flight of the Night-Gaunts", "At the Apex of the Omega" and “The Road to Dunwich”, the true nature of creator, D Boyd, was exposed. The Lyrics saturated in the esoteric subjects of Lovecraftian Horror and Occult knowledge.
In 2007, The classic material of the previous years was presented as a offering to the faithful hordes. In “Confrontation with the Disciples of the Shadow-Walker”, the origins of this music was reveled as being based in Theology and Sumerian/Babylonian History. Songs included "Curse", “The Church”, “The Key” and “Through the Sands of Time”.
And now, in 2008, the newest installment from the tomes of death and decay has arrived. And a smarter, heavier monster is gestating within the music. Inspired again by HP Lovecraft, and with original tales as the lyrical content, “The Plague of the Pallid Mask”. A up to date album with tracks such as, "Nyarlathotep", "The Hickman Cemetery Horror", "Into the Dank Abyss", "The Initiate", "Windwalker" and "Ghost of Yib'Ishnagarib". Your mind will become a offering to The Old Ones!
And as always, The things that were........ARE! And shall be again!
There is more to come.

"Death metal style is omnipresent, however it sometimes vanishes to pleasure us with melodic King Diamond style songs, like The Road To Dunwich, or brilliant bass guitar passages from the instrumental Flight Of The Night-Gaunt’s
...in other songs you can actually feel that D. Boyd has been possessed by the prime-evil gods...
...That is the charm of this music that once hitting the listener makes his mind an offering to Ye Old Ones..."

"Black/death metal, delivered with speed and menace.
If you are a label, take a listen and give this lot a deal. An enjoyable listen."

"...what they do make it is galloping headbang fuel of the first order. I can't understand why a great band like this is still without a label when so many shit bands get signed every day. The Ziggurat might just be the best Death Metal band you've never heard of!"
Review from Metal Crypt
There once was a time in the land where the sun was worshiped as god and its embrace with the moon made the earth hold its breath as time stood still in silence, and at that hour the smothered sun shall cloak the whole world in the dead blackness of midnight giving birth to the Element Of Eclipse.
