Mojo Magazine recently presented the original line-up Zombies with Classic Album Award for Odessey & Oracle.Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals handed over the award and said later of The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle, “It’s been an influence on all my work”...
...
Speaking after the event Rod Argent said: “I'm thrilled that we've received this award. It's so gratifying that 42 years after we made the album it should still seem so relevant to so many contemporary artists. Just at the ceremony, Paul Weller commented that Odessey & Oracle was his favourite album, and the Fleet Foxes said to us how inspirational they had found it.”
Chris White added: “It was a pleasure to receive the Classic Album award; to have recognised the importance of an album we created so long ago, one that still affects and inspires young musicians today and has the respect of so many of our peers.”
“Chris White is the man” says Fleet Foxes’ Robin Peckold spotting The Zombies bassist. “His bass lines – wow! He came backstage at The Roundhouse to see us. What an honour”
i love the bloomsbury theatre DVD & the CD as well because it has so many more songs. hearing the "odyssey & oracle" tunes live is deeply moving. colin, your voice sounds better than ever & rod, you are a true force of nature. keep making great zombies music!

Hey guys! Thanks for a great night in Frome! We all came up in a mini bus from Dorchester and everyone was blown away. I hope my mrs wasnt to much trouble! I have a great pic of her huranging Colin the second he walked off stage! The patience of a saint! Cheers also Colin and Rod for stopping for a photo and chat outside afterwards. Until next time.. JP. x
We thank you for the add. We’re just a small band, but we’d be delighted if you listened to our Garage Rock songs and you sent us any kind of comment!! If u couldn’t we’ll be happy if you just let this comment be shown, so that ur fans & friends get to know us. ☠
Fellas - just to wish you an (apt) happy Halloween and all the best for the Frome gig tonight, I bet it's rockin' down there right now! You were magnificent as expected in Leamington Spa last night, we were in the front row (left), maniacally applauding and cheering! Great atmosphere again, and thanks to Keith (the mackem!) for popping out to see us afterwards. So, that's two fabulous gigs we've seen you this time, and we look forward to more - wish we could get to Holland! All the very, very best - John and Ali x
Fellas - thanks for the accept - we saw you at Buxton on Saturday 17 Oct (we were the ones standing up cheering in the circle at the end!) and it was just amazing. We're hardened veterans of gig attendances running well into 3 figures between us, having seen most of the big names in music, and quite simply we were blown away. Such brilliant musicianship is so rare, it was a privilege to be there and in such a lovely intimate venue. You deserve all the plaudits, and some. Keep it going, lads, you'll be appreciated many more times for several years yet!
PS - just got tickets for the Leamington Spa gig week on Friday - we'll see you there!!!
All the best for the remaining dates - Ali and John
Thank you for showing me how jazzy rock'n'roll can be... without you guys, I wouldn't be the musician I am. I owe a lot to you guys as far as finding myself, and The Zombies will always be a huge inspiration for me no matter what I do. Aside from the T. Rex influence, it's all you guys. You showed me the light... and you're amazing.
