THE
 ZOU's
new
 album
 "ARCHAEOPTERYX"
has
been
receiving
rave
reviews
nationally
for
killer
song writing
 and
their
 unique
 approach
to
creating
"non
rock‐inspired
rock".
 Drawing
influences
 from
 such
bizarre
sources
as
Nintendo
 games,
musical
theater
and
19th
century
pop,
THE
ZOU
still
creates
music
that
is
pure
rocknroll
‐
just
smarter.

THE
 ZOU
 completed
 4
 successful
tours
in
2008.
 In
January,
the
band
journeyed
 for
two
weeks
on
The
Pine Box
E.P.
 Tours
that
took
them
 as
far
west
as
Los
Angeles,
CA.
They
ventured
out
again
in
March
 on
their
spring
 tour
which
took
 them
 to
college
 campuses
throughout
the
 south
 hitting
cities
like
Athens,
GA;
 Chapel
Hill,
NC;
 &
Tampa,
 FL.

THE
 ZOU
 draws
from
 an
eclectic
source
of
influences.
National
 reviewers
have
 drawn
 comparisons
to
The
Who,
Jesus
 Christ
Superstar,
 Tom
 Waits,
The
Flaming
Lips,
Murder
by
Death,
Cursive
&
Modest
Mouse.
 THE
ZOU
does
more
than
 entertain
‐
they
exude
an
amiable
 "artsyness".
They
harmonize
over
distorted
 tube
 amps,
 powerful
keyboards,
dark
 melodic
 bass
 lines,
and
catchy,
 primitive
 drum
breaks.

 The
music
is
intelligent,
well‐crafted,
 electrifying
original
 Indie
 Rock.

here's what some people are saying about the zou...

”The Pinebox EP is full of driving indie rock that sounds like it was written after a binge of booze and 70’s rock opera’s like Jesus Christ Superstar or The Who’s Tommy.”
– John-Michael Bond (Mammoth Press)

“The Zou is a must-have for the bitter pessimists of the Heartland states.”
Brittany Brown – (Suite 101 Magazine)

“Tabbara makes you feel the pain of past relationships in a way few songwriters are able.”
- Katie Libecco (Valley24.com)

“Pop Music. For Artsy F*%kers. Music for Snobs and Slobs alike.”
- Simon McCormack (The Albuquerque Alibi)

“I think if The Zou keeps up with this trend they will be a band that is influencing younger bands all over.”
- Abraham White (Subpopular.com)

“The Pinebox EP implements warm distortion and Built to Spill-sized guitar antics.”
-Michael T. (Planet Pluto)

“I like very much The Zou”
- (Power Pop Magazine - Russia)

“The change in the crowd after The Zou took the stage was amazing. . . Cedar’s transformed from a typical downtown bar to a hip, underground night club with a lively dance floor.”
- Sarah Poulton (LIVE REVIEW)

“The Pinebox EP catches The Zou at their best. Complex melodies, witty lyrics and dramatic passion. Excellent songs with a powerful delivery”
-James Anthony (CD BABY.com)

“The Zou's songwriting abilities and studio alchemy is at it's finest since the band formed.”
-J. Rafidi (The Walrus Magazine)

“It's an album that seems to get better with each listen.”
-Nick Geidner (Youngstownscene.com)

"The Zou . . . write incredible songs.”

go up top and shut of the music on our jukebox up there first.

International Department of Cute

(waiting for a tow truck version)
On the way to record at RCA Studios in Nashville our van got a flat tire in Camelsburg, Kentucky. We decided to kill time waiting for our "Triple A" tow truck to arrive by creating a Video for your viewing pleasure. We had to use the AC adapter converter in the van's cigarette lighter to power up the bass amp. (still can't believe that worked...) and oh, yeah. It was at sunrise and we hadn't slept in quite some time.
