"an Indie Rock clusterfuck of bluesy art-rock and beatle-pop, with theatrical harmonies and occasional dashes of bluegrass."

The Beatles Making Love to Tom Waits, on Johnny Cash's Kitchen Table. -
Emerging from Youngstown, Ohio; Nouveau Rock band THE ZOU has been a prominent and influential voice in the midwest and southern states recording and touring all over North America. The band has performed over 350 shows in over 20 states in such respected venues as:
The Bitter End and Hard Rock Café – New York, NY
Crane’s Tavern – Hollywood, CA
Tasty World – Athens, GA
The House of Blues ‐ Cleveland, OH
The Monte Vista Hotel ‐ Flagstaff, AZ
The New World Brewery ‐ Tampa, FL
Herman’s Hideaway ‐ Denver, CO
Le Swimming ‐ Montreal, QC
The Exit / In ‐ Nashville, TN
Egan's ‐ Tuscaloosa, AL
THE ZOU's new album "ARCHAEOPTERYX" has been receiving rave reviews nationally for killer song writing and their unique approach to creating "non rock‐inspired rock". Drawing influences from such bizarre sources as Nintendo games, musical theater and 19th century pop, THE ZOU still creates music that is pure rocknroll ‐ just smarter.
THE ZOU completed 4 successful tours in 2008. In January, the band journeyed for two weeks on The Pine Box E.P. Tours that took them as far west as Los Angeles, CA. They ventured out again in March on their spring tour which took them to college campuses throughout the south hitting cities like Athens, GA; Chapel Hill, NC; & Tampa, FL.
THE ZOU draws from an eclectic source of influences. National reviewers have drawn comparisons to The Who, Jesus Christ Superstar, Tom Waits, The Flaming Lips, Murder by Death, Cursive & Modest Mouse. THE ZOU does more than entertain ‐ they exude an amiable "artsyness". They harmonize over distorted tube amps, powerful keyboards, dark
melodic bass lines, and catchy, primitive drum breaks.
The music is intelligent, well‐crafted, electrifying original Indie Rock.

(waiting for a tow truck version)
On the way to record at RCA Studios in Nashville our van got a flat tire in Camelsburg, Kentucky. We decided to kill time waiting for our "Triple A" tow truck to arrive by creating a Video for your viewing pleasure. We had to use the AC adapter converter in the van's cigarette lighter to power up the bass amp. (still can't believe that worked...) and oh, yeah. It was at sunrise and we hadn't slept in quite some time.
hey fellas, sounded killer tonight. totally enjoyed the set! hopefully we can do it again soon! PS. new drummer (sorry, didnt get a chance to talk to him tonight) sounded awesome!
