I'm pretty sure that Thick Shakes were genetically constructed to answer my prayers. Just as I was sitting around saying to myself, "Where are all my
maximum R&B mods? Where are my Who fans and Sonics disciples?" Well
here come Thick Shakes ready to rock your skinny suit into 4/4 frenzy.-lawyersgunsandmoneyblog
Thick Shakes are a three-piece garage outfit who are, unlike most garage outfits, not altogether worthless. They tend toward the more unambitious Count Five brand of garage rock, all stabbing and clattering and not too much thinking. If you take them on their own terms and don’t expect any Who drumming or Creation riffs, you might get some amusement out of it.
Kinda sounds like it’s recorded through a paper towel tube onto an Edison cylinder, but a little clipping and grain is a cheap way to give garage rock some character, so no points deducted. -David Thorpe, Slush Pile
don't miss a very special episode of buzzard rock featuring Thick Shakes, the Wufs, Dave and the Daves with guest stars headband at Church wed. June 3rd 2009.
