MICAH BLUE SMALDONE:
"THE RED RIVER" (THINK1010)
‘The Red River’ is the new album from acclaimed American singer/songwriter and ex-New England punker, Micah Blue Smaldone. Smaldone plays pre-war ditties, backwater folk and dirt-floor blues from another time with amazing authenticity and contemporary attitude. This record is dark, atmospheric, exceptionally moody, and comes recommended for fans of Palace Brothers, Smog, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Songs: Ohia, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, The Handsome Family, William Elliott Whitmore and Willard Grant Conspiracy. |

FOREIGN BORN - "PERSON TO PERSON" (THINK013)
‘Person To Person’ is the second album from LA’s moody popsters Foreign Born, after their acclaimed debut longplayer ‘On The Wing’. With a predisposition towards the anthemic, Foreign Born’s songs also lean towards the notion of “classic”, like James Mercer’s, with a dedication to the craft of the song. Best described soundwise as a cross between Echo & The Bunnymen and Deerhunter, it’s probably clearer to say it’s what The Walkmen would sound like if they weren’t afraid to go out in Bermuda shorts and flip-flops. On ‘Person To Person’, Foreign Born go about the business of tune delivery in their own sweet way, and in their own sweet time.... |

JULIE DOIRON - "I CAN WONDER WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR DAY" (THINK009)
Eighth album from this Canadian indie rocker. Julie is an artist who continually attracts a positive critical response, She sings bare open songs about her life, activities and musings, and has established a dedicated following as a result. Her rich
solo career was preceded by an equally admired one with indie rock group Eric’s Trip. The new album is simple, deep and intimate, like almost all of Doiron’s work, but there is a renewed optimism in the songs. Sonically, it’s sparse but has a strong small-band aesthetic, Doiron joined by recent collaborator Fred Squire on drums and Eric’s Trip bassist Rick White. |

His new album ‘Excuses Excuses’ was originally self-released on a limited independent run but has been picked up for national issue, with four non-LP tracks – Chris Pickering is one of this country’s finest unsung talents. |

BEACHFIELD:
"BRIGHTON BOTHWAYS" (THINK006)
Brisbane-bred, Sydney-based musician, singer and songwriter Glenn Thompson is known for his contributions to two of Australia’s most iconic groups, Custard and The Go-Betweens. In his new guise as Beachfield, and with his debut solo album, ‘Brighton Bothways’, Glenn mines a bright path of gorgeous melodic pop, with smart observational lyrics and a strong sense of Australian culture. Popular music bible NME, which called ‘Brighton Bothways’ “almost perfect”, and praised its “sun-kissed melodies and exemplary songwriting”, gave it a rating of 8 out of 10. |

CATFISH HAVEN:
"DEVASTATOR" (THINK1008)
‘Devastator’ is the 2nd album from Chicago soul-blues rockers Catfish Haven. Despite their youthful age, the band whips up a mammoth sound of old-school white soul and Southern inflected barroom rock. This is an album filled with tunes guaranteed to sit comfortably next to the singalong, drivealong, humalong songs of Creedence, The Doobies, & Booker T. It’s also very highly recommended for fans of newer derivatives like The Hold Steady, The Black Crowes, Kings Of Leon & My Morning Jacket. |

SON OF A LION: OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK (THINK1004)
‘Son Of A Lion’ is a new independent Australian film that has already received several international and domestic industry accolades and awards. The warm and atmospheric score was composed by Amanda Brown (ex-Go-Betweens), and features local Afghan musicians on several tracks. The soundtrack album also includes two specially commissioned remixes not included in the film, one made by the film’s director under the guise of the Tiki Two, and another by local Sydney producer Tony Buchen. |

ANGELA DESVEAUX:

The new record is a strong progression from her acclaimed debut... the songs are broader and more mature, the stories are more developed, her voice is clearer, her expression stronger, her guitar playing more confident... and with the new record, Desveaux has captured a stronger “band” feel, her now-trusty troupe renamed “The Mighty Ship”. |
