Biografía
.. .. .. .. .. .... ...."Two roads diverged in a wood and I... I took the one less traveled by...".... One assumes that the only option is one of those two roads. It is easy to forget about the road we each make for ourselves... .. With that in mind, Third Road cuts its own swathe through the often redundant urban undergrowth of modern rock. From their start in 2004, Tennessee-based Third Road developed a unique sound by taking pieces of folk and americana and combining that with passionate storytelling and driving rhythms... .. A four-piece band solidified with singer/songwriter/rhythm guitarist Melody Wingfield, they're a classic rock band in spirit with the energy of youth. With soulful, no-holds-barred vocals and keen creative musicianship, this Chattanooga band blazes a trail of originality with the distinctive sound that almost defies classification... .. There's no such thing as a journey taken sitting down -- be prepared to move, to think, to resonate, to laugh, to scream, to sing, to end up somewhere new. With Third Road, it's all about the music and where it takes us all..... -

....Melody Wingfield (aka Mel) - Lead Vocals, Acoustic and Electric Rhythm, Keyboards.... There isn't a time in her life she can't remember singing. Piano lessons at age 5 from her mother gave way to picking up the guitar at age 18 after hearing Indigo Girls' ..Closer To Fine... Poetry at age 6 matured into a sophisticated and literary songwriting style later on, nurtured by the musical influences of Sting, Mellencamp, Billy Joel, Indigo Girls, and other gifted storyteller composers. Sheltered from the evil influences of Rock-and-Roll during her teenage years (lot of damn good ..that.. did, huh?), this former bane of her existence turned golden as she began her exploration of blues, rock, and folk. Unhampered by overexposure to cookie-punch soundalikes, when her voice finally emerged, it was wholly her own, and even now, her sound is instantly recognizable, powerful and uninhibited and melodic, with a range from silk to velvet sandpaper to banshee. She plays a number of instruments, all self-taught. Her acoustic style is as unique as her voice, highly percussive and critical to Third Road's roots-rock vibe... ....Adrian Coker (aka Ace) - Lead Guitar.... Fleet fingered axeman Adrian Coker picked up his first guitar at age 11 after discovering a battered cassette tape in a mud puddle. The contents of the tape would change his life forever. Creedence Clearwater Revival's musical gumbo jumped out of the speakers and brought him into the world of Louisiana bayous, hoodoos, fortune tellers, gypsies and street corner jug bands. This began a musicologist's journey that would take Adrian through all of the great rockabilly, blues, rock and folk performers of the last sixty years and result in a guitar style that is technically proficient but sparse...with each note as effective as a shot of whiskey on an empty stomach. The great bluesmen's chops are in the mix but tempered with the spartan blue collar sensibilities of CCR, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp and Tom Petty... ....M.Kelley - Drums and Percussion.... Starting as a classically trained percussionist, the draw of playing rock & jazz loudly, made Mike want to take up the drum kit instead of the timpani. A drummer for over 20 years, he has played and arranged almost every genre of music, wrote about it on Drumblog.com and is a walking encyclopedia of music and drumming history. His influences include drummers but also include other instrumentalist, artists, and other creative bohemians... -
Influencias
We are our own best (and worst!) influences. Each member of Third Road brings a wide variety of musical background to the table when writing and arranging songs. Aside from a good foundation in classic American and British rock, blues, and folk/roots rock, we also credit influences in Appalachian myth, storytelling, and bluegrass. Originals are purely that -- original. And cover songs are never the same once we're done with 'em. -
Suena como
Imagine if John Mellencamp were getting his start today... for your pleasure, throw in a female-vocalist-cross between Ann Wilson and Janis Joplin... sex it up with sweet and low-down lead guitar in the style of Cream and CCR... lay it back and grind it hard with soulful and melodic bass... and bring it on home with the powerful rhythmic thrust of sinfully artistic percussion. Let the visceral and vibrant storytelling talk you over the edge and into the afterglow. This is how rock music ....should.... be. (Of course, we're biased -- then again, so are our fans).
