This Dying Need is part of a generation of bands breaking free of the simple traditional guitar, bass, and drum sounds that has plagued the radio for the last fifty years. This Dying Need is music you can really sink your teeth into: complex voicing and intellectual lyrics, dark, poetic, hypnotizing, electronic, organic, hard-edged music with a danceable beat.
This Dying Need consists of one person, Russell Lee. Lee has solely mixed, produced, and created the depths of this project with undying perseverance. Lees studies of styles ranging from classical to metal and electronic music has given him a diverse range of colors from his artists pallet.
Lee has mixed these styles to create what This Dying Need has become, a compelling, mind- blowing journey in music and experimentation in sound.
Lee states, It was my focus to become intimate with the music and to be completely submerged while writing it. I wanted to create a raw feel with grit, like a dark film, not a shinny glossed over movie. Im constantly reaching deep within me to bring something honest and sometimes disturbing to the music.
With the first release Disconcerning Divine, its clear that Lee has more than fulfilled his vision of song writing. Lee explains, I want the listeners to hear something new every time they listen to the album. This explains the use of complex voicings that make Lees music stand out among the clear cut formats so typical of todays pop music.
