Theaaaaaaaatah daaaaaaahling. All singing..all dancing..all fabulous. No really. I can't get enough of that ole greasepaint :p Tennis-particularly when played by Roger Fededer. Wicca, the craft and all kinds of magic. Human rights-we should all be going the extra mile. Men in eyeliner. Men avec glasses. Men who wear scarves. Men in tights! Please tell me you get it ;) People who make me laugh (Eddie and Bill obviously)....Dylan Moran, Lenny Bruce, Rich Hall, Chris Rock, Billy Connolly, Victoria Wood, Bill Bailey, Catherine Tate..& the musical genius that is Tim Minchin and well pretty much the entire cast of Whose Line Is It Anyway? ;)......and your regular (and irregular) music, books, theatre, dance, poetry, life.
Music
Okay so I'm a musical whore. In that I get around and little of just about everything tickles my fancy ;) It's not unusual for me to swing from Joplin to the Charleston, with glam rock sharing head space with Mozart, Broadway showtunes bumping along with alternative rock, Maria Callas to Nine Inch Nails..in music as in life I meander...from The Black Crowes...via The Format..from Alter Bridge to Regina Spektor. Love it..all of it. Latest acquisitions....Sara Bareilles, Scroobius Pip, Oppenheimer, Hips Like Cinderella and Coco Rosie. And you should all be listening to Tom Baxter. Ditto Duke Special. All of you.
Movies
Why yes! Everything in just about every genre...from Chaplin in City Lights to Zach Braff in Garden State via Bogarde in The Servant..to your Men in Tights (it's finally making sense now right? ;)..and The Princess Bride....and oh just about every fantasy/sci-fi type flick ever to grace the earth. Special mention for Labyrinth because oh my God it rocks.
Also have an affection for so bad/good they're the best ever movies from the 80's..The Goonies, Stand By Me, The Breakfast Club, Secret of my Success, Can't Buy Me Love, etc. etc. And every period drama in existence. I believe everyone should watch Life is Beautiful (La Vita et Bella) at least once and you're not allowed to speak to me if you haven't watched, obsessed over and loved Back To The Future (all three parts count as one damn awesome movie to me) :p Ditto everything touched by the genius of Kevin Smith (yes...even Jersey Girl!). Guilty pleasure=Rock Star..Steel Dragon rock I tell you! :p Love a good spoof, Hot Shots, Airplane et al..although the funniest film ever is probably Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas...absolute classic.
I also want to live inside Charlie Kaufman's head--wonderful, marvellous place. For the uninitated check out Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind/Adaptation/Being John Malkovich, Synecdoche, New York...
Musicals of any description..movie musicals/stage-to-screen adaptations/behind the scenes/remakes...if it's musical theatre based you're pretty much guaranteed that'll I'll not only watch it, I'll own & obsess and know every single word of it too ;)
Television
Too much of it (god bless t'internet or this girl would see nothing): Like just about everything else in my life it's a weird mixture of anything sci-fi with a supernatural bent/good comedy, strong drama and blinding documentary features via pointless car crash tv.
Currently glueing me: Eli Stone/LOST/Heroes/Ugly Betty/E.R/Bones/Doctor Who/My Name is Earl/Desperate Housewives/Everybody Hates Chris/Robin Hood (supreme cheese!)/Torchwood (ditto)..Mr Tilney of a certain Northanger Abbey making me weak at the knees (Austen men..get me every time!)..and the fabulousness that was Jane Eyre.
Gone but never forgotten: Life On Mars (Buh bye my lovely DCI)/Six Feet Under/Buffy/Angel/Carnivale/Friends/Frasier/My So Called Life/American Gothic/Sex and The City/Dawson's Creek/Lois & Clark/The Ghost Squad/Vicar of Dibley/every costume drama ever...
Best TV show of all time? Quantum Leap ;)
Guilty but oh so cool pleasures: Deal or no Deal/America's Next Top Model/Takeshi's Castle/NMT Buzzcocks/HIGNFY/Mock the Week/random pointless MTV output and documentaries on BBC3/4 usually featuring stuff I know nothing about at point of initiation-fascinating.
Oh and he's back...Ashes to Ashes..; )
Books
Get lost in them sometimes....so many, so varied, so wonderful, so bizarre.
Fave Books From Childhood: The Chronicles of Narnia.
Fave Books from second childhood: Harry Potter-you have NO idea of the level of obsession hehe....
Fave Classic Novel: Dead heat between David Copperfield and Pride & Prejudice. Okay so it's predictable. So sue me :p
Fave Book of the Past year: Everything is Illuminated-Jonathan Safran Foer-laughter is not the word.
Book That Should Not Have Been Made Into A Movie Because They Managed To Turn Win Into Meh: His Dark Materials-Philip Pullman
Guilty Pleasure: J.D Robb....'the year is 2059'...it's an addiction dammit!
Other Authors: Hunter S.Thompson, Neil Gaiman, Richard Laymon, Tolkien, Peter Biskind, Austen, Bronte, Charles Bukowski...and well just books...I am always with a book in hand..I want one of those huge kick ass libraries..the kind you can get lost in...
Heroes
Bill 'n' Eddie 'n' Neil. Mr Hicks, Izzard and Gaiman respectively to those still living in the dark. These guys are how life should be lived. Ditto, one & all of the DSC.
About me: You may have noticed by now from the cunning informational detail placed around the site that I'm a 27 year old Irish girl (if you haven't by this point back away from the site slowly-hands above your head please that's it)..avec a hint of Maltese inflection..but dem's just the salient details. Spent a few years in London masquerading as a Music P.R supremo & artist manager/music magazine editorial consultant...while moonlighting as a part time charity fundraising activist/full time theatrical wannabe. ;) Hey...some intinerant fool put power in my hands...muhahahahaha! Late last year fate took a right turn as it so often does and I found myself back in Ireland for a spell. This put me on the road to Canada where I've just returned from two months living it up in the gorgeousness that is Toronto.
I like all kinds of everything and many kinds of nothing. I dislike apathy but am guilty of procrastination and claim klutz as my middle name..I don't believe in life without laughter. I want many things to change and much to stay the same in the world we find ourselves in..like so many of us..I'm just winding my way trying to find my best way through, around, over or under it....anyhow..that's the best of me for now..the rest of me will be here later.
Who I'd like to meet: Bill Hicks-dead. Jeff Buckley-dead. Jim Morrison-dead. Marc Bolan-dead. Jimmy Stewart-dead. Kurt Cobain-dead. Charlie Chaplin....um...dead.
Uh yeah...are we noticing a trend here? ;) And Gene Hunt is alas stuck in 1973...oh wait 1981..still too far away ;) Girl can't catch a break. ;) But Eddie (my Eddie) Izzard is still with us so I live in hope. And Neil..oh my Neil Gaiman slays me. Also Kaufman, Charlie...Edward Monkton as some may have noticed (although I'll take Giles Andreae if Edward is busy ;) Giles is the creator/owner of all the lovely 'Life' artwork you see behind the green-don't sue-just send the penguin of death to get me Giles ;) Joss Whedon because hello he's Joss Whedon. Fact is if I could get Joss, Neil Gaiman, Kevin Smith and J.J Abrams in one room I think my head would explode because yes geek heaven. So them, assorted folk of the randomness that is DSC, friends of the Shadowlands, J.K Rowling (dammit woman-I make it all the way to the final page of the final book fine and THEN with one line she just kills me, timelords and time travellers of all descriptions...and Eugene because he told me to start wearing purple....people who understand any of the above...there's more of course..there's always more.......Now must say don't want to meet people who don't get me..they make me want to throw stuff. :p
as are you.... saw this: http://justonefrickinday. com/tshirts. aspx (scroll down to the last shirt on the bottom) thought if Eddie, thought of you. Yes, this is how my brain works. Hope all is well with you, Miss Oh, and nice moose. xoxo
Hehe, yup! We went to the Museum of Childhood (SO much fun, by the way), and they had all these little interactive sections where you could play. Suffice to say, we did everything possible. The puppets section was probably a favourite, though :-P
I saw the Moose vs. Bear picture! Looks hilariously fun. The following picture is also great, you look so happy with antlers XD
