The songs I do are usually inspired by moods. The most extreme of my emotions provoke the best of my music. ‘Silly Little Boy’ was a song written in a moment of sadness and loneliness, whereas, ‘Motorway’ is a song inspired by the thrill of going places I’ve never been to before. 'Sweet Reality' was based on a time when miserable aspects didn't matter in life if i had the people I loved. Other songs I do at gigs are covers of other artists, such as Regina Spektor and KT Tunstall.
In October 2008 I did some work in the studio which was a great experience for me.
Hey! I'm Becky Rose, I'm 18 and I'm from Worcester. I'm a singer/songwriter, I play the keyboard and I arrange my own music at home. I currently go to Worcester Sixth Form College, taking Film Studies, English Language and Music Technology. Music is a big passion in my life! But I also enjoy being a normal teenager. I've met so many talented people through this and appreciate all the support that I have received. I hope to get that break someday. I'd love to have a music career.
Below: a new version of my pre-gig warm-up with a snippet of "The Dress In My Wardrobe" and my cover of "Modern Girls Old Fashioned Men" (The Strokes and Regina Spektor). Generally I play the several different parts to this song in varied structures everyday, in order to maintain the "flow" of my keyboard playing.
BBC Live Friday Session Introducing, 16th October 2009
Hiya, hope all is well with you. Was going to invite you to a free show on Friday $th of Decmber with US singer songwriter Catherine Feeny but see you're playing yourself that night. Shame, but maybe you'll come to the Christmas bash with The Urban Voodoo Machine and friends on Sunday 20th December. Good to see things are rolling for you. Richard MC of the WHC
That is very good news. More venue details on the way to Jim. If you can get a gig at Mama Stones then Mrs T and myself will be along too! It's a fine venue.
I am hoping for you that the big stage gigs are on the way. When you're at the O2, save a VIP seat for me please? :) You never know.....
Hey man the new ballad recording is excellent! Really 60's soul vibe to it love the harmonies your really starting to use that range of yours to it's potential recently it’s gone beyond just vibrato and breathing now it’s got so much more soul to it- that’s an amazing thing to be fair.. Heh the low-fi strings are really cool too the middle bit is pretty and laced with a pocket sized orchestra nice percussion too! See I knew you didn’t use Quantize :-D well gotta get back to Wu see ya aboot
I'll get the details of the venues for you as discussed. Even if you get to play just one of them, it may open doors. You need to be doing bigger venues such as ROBIN 2 and alike (my humble opinion). Anyhow, have a look at the venues and see what develops.... you never know.... :)
Hiya Becky! Thanks for the nice status comment! Yes,The Edinburgh Cellars is a nice venue! I'm looking forward to playing there tomorrow night. Take care. God Bless, Tim.
