deftones, bright eyes, radiohead, the beatles, steven brodsky, dave grohl, the postal service, incubus, smashing pumpkins, further seems forever, saves the day, coldplay, death cab for cutie, far, hum, sunny day real estate, at the drive-in, ben folds, mike doughty, the fire theft, amazing people that have entered and/or exited our lives...
One day during the first few weeks into the fall of 1995, on the bus ride home from school, someone played for me the first deftones album on a cassette tape walkman. It was unlike anything I'd ever heard before. I was instantly drawn to the drama, the aggression, the soul, the energy and that killer guitar sound. It totally changed my life. I taught myself how to play guitar and started playing in bands with friends.
For the most part, we were into heavy and aggressive bands like deftones, glassjaw, pantera, at the drive in, poison the well, queens of the stone age, cave in, system of a down and thrice. I eventually branched out though, and started listening to radiohead, bright eyes, the beatles, ben folds five, sublime, hum, sunny day real estate, death cab for cutie, elvis costello, fountains of wayne, fiona apple, yeah yeah yeahs, wilco, spoon... I could go on forever. Through listening to all these different styles and approaches to music, I would constantly ask myself the question, “What is it about music? How do sounds, vibrations connect with some of the deepest human emotions?” It didn’t take long for me to realize that I needed to start writing my own songs. Music became my life, my own personal soundtrack.
I realized that music could mean so many different things. It can be the difference between having a good day and a bad day. It can be what makes that one night of summer vacation the night that you'll never forget. It can be what makes that everyday subway ride into the city for the dead end job you hate, a little easier to deal with. It can be the reason you can barely walk when you get home because you were out dancing to it all night. It can be what convinces you to ask your girlfriend to marry you, or what makes you realize you want to divorce your husband. It can make you happy to be alive, or make you want to die. It was through these common feelings of inspiration and comfort that we started this band.
I’m Nick and I play guitar and sing for How To Disappear. My good friends Mike and Matt play guitar and bass, respectively. We’ve had a few different drummers since we began (you know how they can be) but our guy right now seems to be working out great. Our first full-length album, “Destroy All Humans” from Parrot on a Porch Records, mastered by Alan Douches of West West Side Music (Ben Folds Five, Converge, Sufjan Stevens, Lifetime, Misfits and Mastodon) is available to download from iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon and other online digital music outlets now. We have been performing on stages in New York, New Jersey and anywhere else that will have us for the passed year and we have plans for a few short tours of the North East United States during the summer of ’09 in support of our first full-length release.
I hope that you will listen to our our songs with an open mind and like it enough to help us in anyway that you feel you can, be it simply purchasing our album on iTunes, playing your favorite track on your college radio station, booking us at your club or even letting us know if you are interested in signing us to your label. We are absolutely in love with all music. It is our passion. Our music is what we live for; it’s the soundtrack of our lives and we would be honored if it got a small spot on yours.
hi! iam wolfgang the guitarist of dreamscape. we should learn to be the best persons we can be and our world will change. i try. but it's not as easy as playing guitar in a high class band...
H. Jackson Brown: Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.
kind regards! DREAMSCAPE (progressive metal from germany) (new cd september 2009! - buy or let die!)
This is Jordan, the new guitarist for Trainlight! Check out our new website and tracks at www.myspace.com/trainlight and let us know what you think, your input means a lot to us! We’re getting geared for our CD release on June 4th and booking our Canadian tour with tons of great bands!
You guys thanks again. I can't confess how much you guys rocked at the station yesterday. Probably worst turn out for us and you guys! lol
But I'm glad you guys were very tolerant and understanding and I admire that a lot! We will definitely play your album at the station, and we will definitely re-schedule a radio show interview with you guys later this summer.
See you guys around and best of luck in the future! - John of podunkR
