Venacava (pronounced veena-kay-va) are a new rock band from Grimsby, England, who formed in late 2008. The band consists of Leon Blanchard (vocals/guitar/piano), Nick Millward (guitar/synth), Jared Webb (bass guitar) and James Buxton (drums).
Drawing from influences old and new, Venacava's sound is an epic mix of driving guitars, roaring drums and classic synths and strings.
In their first year together the band decided to stay locked away in their freezing cold practice room on the Grimsby docks and write as many songs as possible, turning down various potential gigs in favour of writing and tightening their set until the time was right.
So now having cracked their hometown with a cult following and a handful of sold out shows, Venacava are ready to take their sound on the road in 2010...
