Bio
Kevin Devine is an award-winning singer, songwriter and recording artist specializing in rollicking participatory family concerts. Over the past 24 years, he has performed thousands of concerts and school programs from Maine to Texas, dazzling audiences with his mad-cap shenanigans, musical hi-jinx and his original songs. Kevin has written more than 1,000 songs in dozens of styles for concerts, albums and TV and film. From novelty songs to wedding music, metal to country western, his eclectic style reflects his diverse musical influences. He has released five children's music albums and currently releases all his new music online at sites like ThisKevinDevine.bandcamp.com . He also writes music for other performers including the family music group The Lady Bugs, featuring the Scarbrough sisters from Seminary, Mississippi, a.k.a. Seventeen Sisters. His television credits include writing songs for PBS ("Barney and Friends"), NBC, CBS, ABC and Showtime, including JAG, Judging Amy, The Young and the Restless, General Hospital and NCIS, among others, and his songs have appeared in film and on TV in more than a dozen countries in Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. When he's not performing family concerts, Kevin plays accordion, bass and guitar with the Ann Arbor-based Irish/roots/bluegrass band, Kevin & the Glen Levens, with Jerry Hancock on bass, Laura Oeschger on vocals, piano and mandolin and Brent Oeschger on drums. He is also the owner of SongSource.com, a songwriting and publishing company. He has a BA from the University of Michigan and a MEd from Wayne State University and he lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with his wife, sons and dog. In his free time, he writes for newspapers (print and online) and blogs on media issues and leisure theory.
