At the time of their debut full-length recording, Jeff (Drums), Josh (Guitar/Vocals), and Nick (Bass/Vocals), were still doing their homework to finish high-school in the slot-machine city known as Reno, Nevada. Among the glitter and spectacle of the nearby casinos, This Computer Kills was born in the garage as after school get-togethers to create noise. The first This Computer Kills show was January, 2000 at Joe's Garage. Since then This Computer Kills has played a slew of intense live shows locally with many great bands and began touring in April of 2001 during Spring Break of their senior year. In August 2000, with the aid of a highly trained professional (an unemployed slot machine technician), This Computer Kills took to the studio to record 13 songs for a full-length they hoped to have released sometime in the future. They took it upon themselves do a DIY release themselves and sold every copy they made. Now released on Substandard Records. This debut self-titled release is a combination of dueling vocals, breathless screaming, complex basslines, and high-strung guitar melodies, set to a driving punk rock beat. Think indie rock meets punk rock. You'll find influences by Moss Icon, Drive Like Jehu, 400 years, The Convocation of..., Gang Of Four, At The Drive-In, Anti-Flag, Refused, Kill Sadie, and early Unwound.
This release was followed up with a 4 song 7" which was released on Sedition Records. The 7" continued in the tradition of This Computer Kills, however, this time around the songs were more complex and mature. As of 2007 both releases are out of print but can be found on amazon, through some distros, ebay, and in some of your local record stores used bins.
After the breakup (March 2002) of This Computer Kills, the members of This Computer Kills went on to start a slew of new bands:
Disconnect (Josh and Jeff)
The Spotlight Syndicate (Jeff and Nick)
Bafabegiya (Josh)
Young Lions(Josh)
Pink Black (Josh)
Children (Josh)
Rad Times (Jeff)
War Against (Jeff)
However, none of the members of This Computer Kills are playing in any bands as of March 2007. Expect new music for any one of the members soon as they are all working on starting up new projects.
