This Machine was formed by Andy Skemp and Greg Schams in late 2006. After putting together a handful of songs Nick Shoults was to join the band as an additional guitar player but somehow found his way behind the drum set. Cody Miles filled the vacant guitar slot shortly after.
Since early 2007 these four gentleman have forged on as This Machine. We practice in a 100-year-old farmhouse outside Coon Valley and in the basement of a Victorian palace in the heart of downtown La Crosse affectionately known as "asbestos alley."
This Machine draws inspiration from daily life, history, literature, nature, dreams, and, sometimes, tube socks. Four very different individuals make This Machine what she is and we hope you enjoy what you hear. Cheers.

Hey everyone I’m turning 27 this Friday. I wasn’t going to do anything, but not doing anything makes me feel very OLD. So I’m going to go and have some elitist Mexican food at Manny’s Friday and then you can all join me at Yesterdays downtown after 9 or so. We won’t be bar-hopping…Yesterdays is the place to be.
