This Twilight city

Six years ago, in a small town “where the light breaks through the clouds,” the initial sparks that would form This Twilight City began to break through as well. Three kids from Northern Michigan, under the influence of bands like All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, and Jimmy Eat World, hit the local scene and began recording, calling themselves Anchors for Reality. Their first album ‘Honesty’ was released in 2006, immediately gaining recognition and a solid fan base.
After two years of non-stop performing and all the ups-and-downs that go with it, the band went into the studio for a second time as This Twilight City. (Please note- there is NO association with the popular vampire saga. Contrary to popular belief, Alexx Lee does not sparkle.) The new name is actually Mario Brothers- inspired, which is fitting for a group of guys that keep an original Nintendo hooked up in their tour van.

In November 2009, the band released ‘Just Breathe’. The album is a reflection of the turbulence following the release of ‘Honesty’ mirrored through the lyrics of front man Alexx Lee.
“We were making more positive moves as a band,” he says, “but when you’re sitting around dreaming about the road, you don’t really consider the impact it has on your personal relationships or how difficult it can be to balance it all.”
Fans and critics alike embraced the changes. With the single, Starlight Scarlet, receiving national airplay, including a feature in an AMP Energy Drink commercial that aired on over 400 radio stations, Just Breathe has gained over 47,000 downloads and continues receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews.

This Twilight City has since been featured on absolutepunk.net, substreammusicpress.com, Purevolume.com, and local channels NBC and FOX Carolina. They were named Alternative Press magazine’s Band of the Month in April 2009 and their acoustic live stream on justin.tv drew nearly 18,000 unique viewers.
The band’s much-anticipated new album, Vegas in Lights, is due to be released in August. So, what sort of newness should we be expecting this time?
“Let’s just say, we’re all much happier now,” says Lee.
