"Common Country" (from the forthcoming new record!)
This Way is the forceful purveyors of high-energy Americana rock 'n' roll with frenetic live shows that have an uncanny and endearing ability to truly engage audiences.
Jay Basiner (also known as J. Biddy), the group's frontman and songwriter, is a natural performer channeling the likes of Tweedy, Bono, Springsteen, and Dylan working crowds until their dancing, sweating and singing along as the band lays into a folk-rock fury harnessing deep vocal harmonic flourishes and a barnburning rhythm section.
We Could All Make History, This Way's debut album, was released in December of '08 to critical acclaim in and around Portland, Maine, where the band is from. Their music has garnered regular radio appearances and airplay with every major rock / folk format in Maine. "Riding Through The Courtyard", the band's first single, is a featured on 98.9 WCLZ's regular rotation. While also being featured on Maine's highest rated local television show WCSH's "207", and on The Portland Press Herald's list of "Bands to Watch in 2009", the band has also opened for national acts such as David Dondero (Team Love Records) and from the fabled New Jersey shore scene longtime rock 'n' roller John Eddie.
In less than a year since This Way began their resume has grown rapidly. Aside from working Portland's most respected rooms and clubs, the group has also played Maine's largest outdoor music festival gatherings and stages including The Old Port Fest (June 2009) and Alive at 5 (July 2009) to thousands of music fans.
More recently, the band has made several trips to NYC, performing in the Village and Lower East side of Manhattan and hopes to kickstart an east-coast tour in support of their forthcoming record to be release sometime in the spring of 2010.
As for We Could All Make History, Jay says "We've made an eclectic and upbeat record, crossing musical genres, but rooted deep in the folk traditions and developing a sound that is vibrant, relevant and I believe important to the fabric of American music. However, we'll be showcasing more of the newer material in the upcoming shows, containing songs that bring the music to a completely different level not only musically but lyrically as well. Come to a show and see for yourself"
