I am a musician/comedian/artist/ that has been living and working in Minneapolis for 20+ years. I play and write metal, punk, jazz, techno, industrial, comedy rock, and modern classical and have recorded in all of these genres.
Currently, I am working on a hybrid musical style that melds pop rock, industrial metal, old techno, metal, hard rock, goth and classic style rock. "Gods and Devils" is the album title. For the musical purists out there, too bad for you, I was a musical purist once, and then I grew up! Music is about melding styles and bridging gaps, not creating them.
The classical music you hear on this site is part of a piece that I wrote for a dear friend of mine who passed away from cancer in 2008. Earl Root was a great man and there will be no other like him. He believed in what we did and we believed in him. When he was gone, the only way I could think to honor him was to write something. So I did, about 17 minutes worth of something.
The title of the piece that was written for Earl Root and his family is "Forlange, Reise å Valhalla" or "Requiem a Journey to Valhalla" and was written in the winter of 2008. The piece, titled in Norwegian, is also dedicated to my ancestors who worked and lived in the village of Mundal Norway. The crest that you see on the logo is the crest of the original people of Sogn de Fjordlane from which the Mundal family name is originated. The village of Mundal still stands today after 825 years.

Earl Root was the man that brought underground metal music to Minnesota and was loved and respected by everyone in the local metal scene as well as world wide. He formed the local Minneapolis Metal label ROOT OF ALL EVIL Records and was the owner of ROOT CELLAR RECORDS, which housed one of the largest underground vinyl record collections in the Twin Cities. Since his passing, the show is still going strong. EARL ROOT was and is the metal king of Minneapolis Minnesota.

I think we sometimes feel like discovery is when you look hard enough, you find gold. But for Michelangelo, I think he viewed discovery as imagination!

If you have seen his art before, you may agree that it's quite extraordinary and that he is a good example of having a good attitude about it. :)
I hope you find your art inside your block of stone. I think most of us can feel surrounded by stones most of the time.

I think when we are constantly moving about, we are learning, changing and growing. But when we are inactive, we can feel like there is no hope. I personally am always glad when something gets accomplished in a day, even if it isn't the large change I am hoping for.
