The band Thornus was formed back in the end of 1998 by both of the guitar players Dave Relou en Patrick Janssen. Soon afterwards Dave's older Brother Mike joined their jam sessions with his keyboard. Now the search for a rehearsal room and other band members began. The three guys found a rehearsal room in Doornroosje (Nijmegen). Well actually it was an empty cold room with absolutely no isolation and no equipment. After a few try-outs with different vocalists the band was joined by Brechtje van Doorn as female vocalist. The name Thornus popped up in Dave's head and it became the band name. After a few months a new location was found in The Box (Boxmeer). In this period the band was joined by Gerwin Pluk on drums and Winston Arntz as male vocalist. A few months later Winston decided to leave the band and Gerwin soon followed. After a long search they found a new singer in Eric Vleming. And some time after that a new drummer was found in Harrie Rooyakkers. Because only Dave was a resident of the city of Boxmeer the band was searching for a new location in the area of Nijmegen. Finally a new rehearsal room was found in the beautiful area of Nijmegen's industry near the power plant. Harrie left the band just before the new location was found, but with a lot of "fresh" air in their lungs the band continued to play their material and still searched for a new drummer and a bass-player. Half a year passed and still no drummer or bass-player was found. When Eric had left, the band decided to go on with Brechtje as main vocalist instead of a split male/ female vocal section. In March of 2001 the band got in contact with Roel Steyvers (Roelie). After being without a drummer for almost a year the band was now almost complete. About five months later they finally found a bass-player in the person of Michael Maassen. With this line-up they played a concert for the ten year anniversary of rock café Backstage together with three other bands in December of 2001. A year later the band played there again, now celebrating the 11th birthday of the bar and the release of their first Demo "Autumn Whispers". Soon after this gig Roel decided to leave the band and a few months later keyboard player Mike also decided that it was time to go since he could no longer combine the band with his other work and hobbies. Several auditions followed and eventually Aris became the new drummer in the beginning of 2005. After several years of service Brechtje van Doorn decided to leave the band after a conflict about which road the band would take into the future. A few months after, the band moved to yet another rehearsel room called Staddijk which is also located in Nijmegen. Soon after the band decided to continue as a 4 man group. Dave took over the main vocals and Patrick was assigned to do the backing vocals. They have been busy writing new material and have also hit the stage twice in this line-up. A Demo is planned to be released this year..
