Sounds Like"Those Transatlantics claim The Beatles, The Cardigans and The New Pornographers as the shared influences that brought them together, so it should come as no surprise that their music is the sonic equivalent of an ice-cold glass of lemonade on a summer day." -NPR's The World Cafe

"America's answer to The New Pornographers." -Paste magazine

"The lush harmonies and orchestral pop-rock of Michigan’s Those Transatlantics sometimes recall The Cowsills and The Monkees, but the updated sonic textures minimize the retro potential." -Nashville Scene magazine

"The band is pop, but with a down-home vibe. There is nothing pretentious or presumptuous about the band's sound." -Lansing Noise

"The band continues to forward Brian Wilson's pop dream." -Indianapolis Intake magazine

   About Those Transatlantics
Those Transatlantics became a band in 2004, which - as it turns out - was a pretty good thing. Why? Well...

Shortly thereafter, they released the first of their three EPs (Those Transatlantics), and toured for the first time.

For a period (2004-2005), the band played extensively in their native Michigan and in the Great Lakes region, releasing their second and third EPs (You're Seated in the Back and We Will Embark).

The result of many a shared show/laugh/beer/friendship, the band then began working with the fine fellows at Suburban Sprawl Music to release their first LP, Knocked Out.

Following its May 2006 release, Knocked Out was talked about quite a bit, spurred in part by the band's consistent touring schedule and the excitement surrounding the release of a music video (which was a finalist in an independent film competition).

As 2007 drew to a close, Those Transatlantics began writing and rehearsing material for a follow-up to Knocked Out. 2008 brought recording and 2009 will bring polishing and a late-year release. Stay tuned... !!! Start Code To Apply Top Banner !!!! Custom top banner code by Eileen !!! End Code To Apply Top Banner !!!

I would be honored if you gave a little visit to the ‘crum. The first conversation of the month is with Todd Rohal, writer and director of The Guatemalan Handshake (which starred Will Oldham). The fulcrum also features fiction and artwork that is certainly worth a gander or two. http://themovablefulcrum.blogspot.com
Thanks!

lol! Oh my goodness. Thats when you know there must be a God. Hahaha! ;) well i'm thoroughly pleased with your story. I love stories. You should tell me more...more often. ;) Once upon a time, my band set up our instruments on the front of an old porch, fired the system up and sang our hearts out for the passers by. The smell of hotdogs...the sound of old time rock and roll from another band a few streets over doing the same thing...children eating brightly colored gelato... let's just say, it's an amazing way to end a Wednesday...
