This song reminds me of "My"Space:
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
And the people in the houses
All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
And there's doctors and there's lawyers
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
And they all play on the golf-course,
And drink their Martini dry,
And they all have pretty children,
And the children go to school.
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university,
And they all get put in boxes
And they all come out the same.
And the boys go into business,
And marry, and raise a family,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.
The world is made of plastic these days, run by plastic people working plastic jobs. The vastness and sacredness of the Universe awaits us in every breath, in every thought, in every atom that swirls in a magical dance to form experience.
MySpace is a lot like plastic.
At any rate, this plastic box is About Me, so enough of MySpace. Here are a few pieces of ticky-tacky for you:
I live in Austin, Texas and I'm proud to say that it's the only place in Texas I'd consider living. Austin has a different feeling that most cities. One of Michelle's co-workers described Austin as a "vortex for change". It takes little imagination to see the truth in that statement. Another equally valid statement is, "Keep Austin Weird". There are a lot of people here who try their hardest to embody that motto.
No lie.
Most of the people that live here are transplants, but you can still come across some native Austinites who will moan about the good ole' days before everything blew up and everybody from California to New York moved here. They have a valid complaint. Not that I don't like the Coasters moving here to the one true oasis in Texas. Some of you I can get to know pretty well sitting next to each other for hours in the maddening traffic that consumes the handful of roads in this city.
More to come. Right now I'm moving. No not from Austin.
I just thought I'd get a start on this because the last time I updated this profile was January 2007. I'd say it was due? How about you?
