ThouShaltNot's moody and kinetic music stands apart from comparison across postpunk and electronic genres. The three-piece band is at once desperately raw and epicly refined, experimental and infectious both in concert and on their albums.
ThouShaltNot have built strong fanbases through their national tours and their work with acts such as The Dresden Dolls, VNV Nation, Alphaville, and David J. of Bauhaus. Their club hits "Cardinal Directions," "Without Faith," "Last Comfort," and "Inside of You, In Spite of You," have been played at nearly every dark alternative and goth venue in America. More recent work of theirs has found a following that spans across new wave and even indie rock.
Never cliche, and constantly exploring the confluence of postpunk, industrial, folk, goth, and classical, their music, throughout its thoughtful subject matter, is psychotically hook-laden and rewardingly complex in its emotional and intellectual architecture
Wonderful show tonight. It was really nice to see you guys in Cleveland again. I hope to see you in Pittsburgh--possibly Cincinnati too if my friend has anything to say about it. Keep up the good work.
Hmm.. That sucks; I don't have a PP-Account. I'd really love to get that EP - maybe I can persuade my father to make an account (but I don't think he'll do it x___x).. WAAAH *gets all mad about being European >_<* Well, I think I'll find a way (in the end I'll just.. swim over and get it)..
Super excited about the tour!!! I'll make it to.... one of the shows at least, undecided as of right now which one(s). I hope you guys have a blast! Oh, and I am loving the new tracks you put up. Have fun and live well! ^__^ -Sharley Misia.
WE CANT WAIT TO PLAY WITH YOU GUYS IN BOSTON ON THE 2ND OF AUG! WE HAVE PLAYED WITH YOU LABEL MATES CARFAX ABBEY IN PA AND LOVE THE SCENE DOWN IN YOUR PARTS! BUBBA
It's about time I got round to thanking you for adding me to your friends list. Very appreciative, I am. ..
Please continue to write and perform your music in the way that you are right now! I really do enjoy the complexity with which the music is layered--each time I listen to a song I discover an underlying countermelody or harmony that I didn't hear before.
It makes me happy that your music isn't restricted to the oh-so-common I-V-vi-IV pattern that I hear in a lot of music that I know. (That, of course, may just be a personal vice in musical taste.)
My mum bought the Dark Cabaret CD from a magazine, and I though True Love was absolutely amazing. It's so unique and the lyrics are fabulous. Thanks for accepting =] Hope all is well.
