Thread Atlas is a symbiotic relationship of lush sonic soundscapes intertwined with powerful, provocative rhythms. Creating moods rich with subtle changes that draw the listener into a magical delivery of building tension, Thread Atlas deliver songs that are meditative in content like a favorite mantra that turn into a large orgy of sound. The dynamics are rich with a slow sensuous crescendo that resolves in purity and consistency. Gentle transitions of guitar along with intense drum and bass lines take the listener to a place that is at first interesting, then compelling and finally explosive.
From their new EP, "The Perfect Storm" feels tense from the beginning and gains energy until it decompresses in the middle and then winds up again. It makes you want to grab a blanket and stare at your black light velvet Rush poster. “Apostrophe” is light and free – an easy listen featuring arpeggiated patterns on the guitar that you might expect from a keyboard.
Thread Atlas is dark and energetic, like an almost calm river with something violent and disturbing that you can't quite see in the depths, but there's hope as well. The cryptic, stormy lyrics – as deeply personal lyrics often are – seem to reflect the hardships, victories, and seemingly uncertain futures of the artists' Their sound is difficult to date or categorize, but it's not the typical rock music you hear on the radio. It's raw and very real. You know that they sound just as good in real life as they do on the CD. This is gymnastics on 6 strings.
Thread Atlas released their self-titled EP in June 2007, and the band has performed at events such as the 27th Annual Watermelon Festival in Houston, TX and have been featured on KPFT 90.1 in Houston.
