| Music | IDENTIFYING THEATER AS A UNIQUE ART FORM.
We aim to rejuvenate the public's interest in live theatre by creating unique theatrical experiences for the audience. We test traditional performance practices by working in unique theatrical spaces such as warehouses and by using different audience seating configurations. Our company members receive intensive movement training while developing original pieces inspired by plays, poems and stories from the classical theatre tradition. We use music and minimal costumes and scenery to tell our stories. We are firm believers that with only three chairs and an empty space, we can transform that space into anything. | | Movies | FINDING NEW WAYS TO INTERPRET THE CLASSICS.
We believe that the classical canon is as relevant today as it was five hundred years ago. Our company aims to make classical stories, poems and plays relevant by combining thoughtful research of the language, history and culture with knowledge of today's current events and politics. As artists we search for new mediums and methods of communication to tell our stories. Our process is physical and mental: in our rehearsal processes, we develop a language with our voices and with our bodies. We illuminate this process for our audience by inviting them to participate in rehearsals and in Peer Group Presentations in which we present our works-in-progress. We believe the process is as important, if not more, than the finished product. Therefore, audiences can interpret the works by participating in or viewing our rehearsal process. | | Television | FORGING A CONNECTION WITH THE COMMUNITY.
We aim to build a strong connection with the community we serve by inviting high school and community college students to participate in our rehearsals and Peer Group Presentations. We invite open discussion of the work presented, including constructive criticism and feedback. We are open to creating new pieces with other community institutions that share our common artistic goals. In order to forge this connection it is necessary to fundraise in an ethical way that sustains our company while providing cultural enrichment for our community. | | Books | COLLABORATING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE.
We believe that young people have a lot to offer. They come to the table with fresh ideas and a passion for artistic creation. At the same time, with our combined experience and training in different fields of theatre, our company members offer a hands-on education to high school age and beginning-level participants. Working with young people is vital to our existence as they are a strong link to the community and will take from their experience with our company a deep appreciation for live theatre. |

Sock and Shoe
We had such a good time with this production we are sad to see it close, but we are hoping to possibly bring it back for a tighter, even more fun, longer, run some time in the near future. Thanks to all who helped make it possible and if you liked the show let us know by joining our mailing list.
We kicked off the new year with all our favorite things... comedy, puppets, music, clowning, and surprises.
Sock and Shoe is composed of two new shows...
SOLE MATE is a charming love song of simple means and large hope told through the manipulation of found object puppets. Featuring performances by Cristina Bercovitz and Jessica Erskine.
DEATH AND GIGGLES is one man's journey through the after life and the absurdity of death, told with a combination of clowning, puppetry and modern dance. Featuring Daisuke Tsuji, a former clown with Cirque du Soleil.
This show is rated "B" for potential balloon humping.

/>Halloween was awesome! Perhspace was fantastic! The response has been incredible. We are so grateful for the kind words and enthusiasm. Possession is a new show inspired by the story of the dybbuk. This original shadow puppetry piece by Three Chairs Theater mixes live performers, supernatural puppets and intense live music. Featuring live performances by Daisuke Tsuji, Shannon Kennedy, Jon Borges, Jessica Erskine, Evan Drane, and Cristina Bercovitz.

What is Three Chairs?
Three Chairs Theatre Company, Inc. is a nonprofit theatre company dedicated to identifying theatre as a unique art form; finding ways to interpret classical theatre that are fresh and relevant to today; forging a connection with the community; and working with young people to instill an appreciation of theatre as a unique art form.
