SUNDAY MATINEE PRODUCTIONS, the story of a girl fed up with the current local music scene.

Here is my disclaimer:

Bands have been brainwashed into thinking this whole ticket selling thing is how shows go,well not ALL shows,not the shows that are put together by people who dont suck.

Local bands shouldn't expect to get paid. The bands that Sunday Matinee Productions books are bands who are just looking for exposure and being happy to take that as payment.

These shows are basically a non profit thing,in order to keep the shows so cheap at only $3 per head,none of us involved get paid a single dime. The photography,the videos,the booking,making the flyers,actually going out and flyering, and the time spent on doing all of these things is all done for free!!! In an attempt to bring this scene back together! Even the door guy sits there for 4 hours on his own time for free.

So bands please don't ask us for money. We are putting our faith in you that if you truly know what you are doing and wish to make money,you get some merch and sell it by promoting the show and promoting your band to bring people down to buy it. Doing a charity show once in a while to be a part of bringing a sense of a scene back won't kill you,you may even feel the tiniest bit good inside after doing it. This is about exposure,making friends,connections and being a part of building up a DIY culture again. If making money is more important to you well then you obviously don't get it and good luck.

If you are pissed off about not making any money,Sunday Matinee Productions wants nothing to do with your band because in that case it is vividly apparent we do not share the same vision. Maybe you should hit up venues like The Crazy Donkey where they will require you to sell tickets and fork over all the money to them but any extra tickets you sell well, that money is yours. You only have to sell 6785785 tickets but anything after that is yours!

I think you get the point. We don't get paid so neither do you.

Bands that are under the impression that promoting is simply sending out myspace bulletins....SUCK IT.and DO NOT email me for shows. You go out and flyer the FUCK out of EVERYWHERE you can think of. SUNDAY MATINEE PRODUCTIONS does that for each and every show,flyering over 20 places on Long Island every week! WE promote and YOU promote! Guess what?Flyers can be made with a sharpie and a piece of paper too!

What ever happened to band etiquette? Bands show up now just before they play and leave right after,WTF is that? I believe etiquette has dissipated due to the domino effect AND FRUSTRATION of ticket sales and over priced shows. Regardless its HORSESHIT!

Bands who show up right before they play and leave right after they are done DO NOT EMAIL ME FOR SHOWS. Its about SUPPORTING THE SCENE not just your band. Again, I understand certain circumstances don't allow for you to stay for the entire show and thats cool!

This is supposed to be about fun. Your payment is playing the music you love in front of people,being a part of a unified scene,and being able to hang out with your friends amongst good music.You want people to stick around and watch your band right?Respect,nah mean?

I refuse to be a part of ticket sales,or a part of excluding anybody. I wanted to start something that made sense. Thats how Sunday Matinee Productions was born.
