Three D radio is run by the PMBA, or Progressive Music Broadcasting Association. We are committed to playing contemporary, progressive & alternative music and support the local music and arts community in a way that few other local stations do.
Three D radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year across Adelaide, and surrounding country areas in South Australia.
Three D radio was established in 1979 as a community radio station broadcasting on 93.7FM. We have over 60 diverse programs going to air each week to more than 110,000 listeners.
Three D radio announcers are free to play what they want.
Excepting specialist shows, each show should feature:
40% Australian, 25% female, 20% local and 10% demo material.
Three D radio is unique. We are the only major metropolitan broadcaster in Australia that is entirely run by volunteers. We have no paid staff - every last cent of your subscription helps us to keep broadcasting and become a stronger, more independent organisation.
And that helps us to play more local music.

Playtime vs. Playlists
Three D radio doesn't have playlists, so we don't put tracks on rotation.
Each announcer contributes to the overall, individual, sound of Three D radio.
Our announcers have access to the Three D radio music library, our collection of over 70,000 items, including vinyl, CDs, tapes, and mp3s.
And of course they make use of their own extensive personal collections.
Three D radio has a dedicated 'new releases' section in our library. All new music received at the station is catalogued and then placed in the new releases shelves where it stays for two months before being incorporated in the general collection. Many announcers play music from the new releases shelves, some announcers will program whole shows from these shelves.
To get your release on our shelves, into the ears of our announcers, and across the airwaves of Adelaide, you should:
Drop into Three D radio or post your musical package to the station, addressed to the Music Librarian.
The street and postal addresses are available in our 'band members' section on this page.
Know that our announcers like CD or vinyl...
Each of our studios have two CD players and two turntables. Other formats will take longer to be processed and are less likely to be played by our announcers.
Express yourself through your music, rather than kooky fonts.
Our announcers like to be able to read the name of the artist/band, album name, track names, numbers and times, on a release.
Make it easy for our announcers to play your tunes!
Let our music cataloguers know if your release meets one of our quotas.
If your band/release can tick one of these boxes,
Australian, Demo, Female, Local
you've just made your music more attractive to our announcers.
Don't be shy, mark which quota/s you meet on the packaging of your release.
