Influences
In no particular order: RATM, Primus, Mudvayne, Drowning Pool, The Agony Scene, 36 Crazyfists, Coheed and Cambria, Lamb Of God, Michael Manring, A Perfect Circle, SikTh, Tool, Pearl Jam, Mastodon, G'n'R, Snot, Deftones, Incubus, Velvet Revolver, 311, Hedpe, Steve Lawson, One Minute Silence, Hayseed Dixie.......
"Ultimately they sound like a cross between Rage Against The Machine and System Of A Down, with the emphasis on the 'down'. These young men are angry." The Source Mag
"ThreeMileIsland play the sort of rock that vibrates your spine with sheer explosive volume, tracks of attitude and anger that will force your head to pump with agreement, ThreeMileIsland have that rare thing - Hear it. Feel it. Anger is an energy...." Rock 3 Radio
"With one mean crunch of a guitar, TMI are a very heavy rock monster playing their own take on metalcore, crisp clear catchy rhythms and big on tunes - the bass and drums whack hard while the vocals lament and scream frustratingly. Rocky metalcore. Rockcore? Yes pleeeeeeasssse!" Dukester
"Like Mudvayne, RATM and 36Crazyfists! First of all the bass, hysteric screams and guitars that blow you away in a destructive tornado of emotions - Great riffs and Great structures!" Blackout 69
"Brighton's ThreeMileIsland take things back to yesteryear, their nu-metal leanings harking back to the days of Mudvayne and One Minute Silence; taking full advantage of the spacious surroundings of the Bar Monsta by clambering over everything deemed even remotely climbable..." Rockmidgets.com
ThreeMileIsland was formed by ex-members of two Brighton bands - Self Destruct, and My Deaf Audio. After a few attempts at finding a suitable second guitarist, the executive decision was made to be a 4 piece.............. and the band you now know was born.
Mid 2003 - After the first few initial song structures were laid down, it soon became apparent that with the wildly varying musical ideals that each band member had, every song would be a painstaking journey through everyones musical territory until the final arrangement was acceptable to all involved. And this would take time. So TMI promptly decided to re-write everything they had already written.
This took the best part of a year....
These new song versions became imbued with an array of various styles and techniques drawn from everyone's different musical influences. This, in turn, has lead to a wide array of comparisons to a number of different bands such as Rage Against The Machine, 36 Crazyfists, Mudvayne, Deftones, and S.O.A.D.
Determined to test this new found musical direction TMI began to book a few low key gigs beginning with opening the 2004 Halloween Show at the King & Queen in Brighton. This did not turn out to be as 'low key' as TMI expected....
The evening was part of Radio One's Brighton Live event and with over 200 people in attendance the initial test run was to a larger audience than anticipated. This debut combined with the next few shows meant word of ThreeMileIsland's explosive stage presence spread - bringing back the people who'd once had the 'spirit of the mosh pit' but thought it had been outlawed when attending an unsigned band's show.
Word of mouth continues to spread - and with a 2005 EP in the bag and a new '06 demo as a taster of things to come - there are more live shows on the horizon and the world of ThreeMileIsland continues to grow...............
A few of the bands we've shared the stage with: Will Haven, The Mirimar Disaster, Gutworm, Multi Purpose Chemical, The Abner, Inner Rage, Thoughts Collide, Deaf Havana, The Quiet Kill (ex-Million Dead), Zero Cipher, Lavondyss, In So Far, Forever Falling, 6AfraidOf7, Whisper In The Riot, Esoterica - just to name a few!
