THREEP are Chris Cousin (Sofalofa , The Buoys) and Stu Smith (ASMO, The Buoys), founding members of Bathysphere, an artist led music collective based in Leicester. Armed with a bewildering array of bakelite knobs, patch cables, software and custom made controllers Threep explore parallel worlds within sound and circuitry. Fusing field recordings and granular textures with analogue rhythms and hardware hacked sound Threep ignore the boundaries of conventional musical composition. Whilst carefully crafting compositions in the studio with meticulous attention to detail they take an entirely improvised approach to live performance, effortlessly navigating between the delicate and the brutal, minimalism and complexity, whilst still retaining their unique signature.
Their debut DVD album ‘Serious Play’ with video works by Barret Hodgson, Barry Hale, Mike Shaw, Matthew Pell, Max Crow and Aaron Bradbury is due for release on Bathysphere Recordings in early 2009.
I agree with Jane there was some serious energy coming out of those speakers when you guys played at Summer Sundae. Festival highlight for me. Nice details here too. Bring on the calculated, free flying noise and shifting crackle.
Hi guys - It was so good to see you playing live last weekend - sounded brilliant and the energy was amazing! More, more, more please. Much love Millum xxx
Whats up from Dr. Grey!!!! Hope all is going well in your world. We just came out with a new song called Rainbow Tears, so check it out and tell me what you think. Thanks for the love and have good days!
