Three State Blues was formed in 1995 in Chiswick, West London. Pete Armatage (bass/vocals) and Kevin Inglis (guitar) had played together in various outfits on and off since the 1970s. They placed an ad in "Loot" and Ed Hudson (drums) replied, at the time conveniently living 5 minutes from their rehearsal space, by the Hogarth roundabout. After gigging around the capital and the home counties, TSB released a debut album of self penned blues rockers called "Emotional Honesty" (Locomoto 1996). Great reviews and support slots with Albert Lee and Big Joe Turner followed. A Cream tribute show was recorded in 1998, at the Grey Horse in Kingston. A 7 year blues jam night residency on Tuesday nights followed at this venue, and was attended by literally thousands of top musicians and fans of blues/rock. A second studio album "Deep South" was released in 2003 containing another 12 original tracks steeped in the bands rock and blues influences.
In 2005 Three State Blues recorded a live tribute to ZZ Top which is available as a DVD. The band members are currently involved in other projects (Ed and Pete with the "Ed Hudson Band" and Kev with "Scoville") but do plan to play and record again in the future. A track called "Settle Up" from Emotional Honesty was recently played by Rick Wakeman on The Planet Rock radio station, sparking renewed interest in the bands recordings (2008).
Thanks for the request! I'm gradually joining all your sites on here! Must catch another gig again soon - not as easy these days though! Hope you're both doing well Kevin and Pete, see you soon Ed!
