"A cord of three strands is not easily broken." Ecclesiastes 4:12
In 2004 when Joanna recorded the hook vocals for the Alan C. Duncan songs "Good Enough," and "My Heart" it was evident that something special had just happened. Those two recordings would go on to become two of the most popular songs on Alan's independent release "Fisherman." Two years later Alan and Joanna would be married.
With that union also came a musical union of styles and abilities. Joanna brings the heart of a worshipper, and a rich, soulful voice to the group. Alan, following in the footsteps of two generations of ministers, brings the passion of a pastor and the fire of an evangelist to the rhymes he pens for Three Strands.
Currently Alan and Joanna are working on an EP that will defy the stereotypes placed on hip-hop and worship music. Their organic sound has been influenced by Jason Upton, The Beatles, 100 Portraits, The Cross Movement, J. Ralph, Jon Brion, and James Newton-Howard.
Joanna and Alan Duncan believe God put them together to speak the Truth of Jesus Christ to a generation of individuals that are hurting and lost. They are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus and this is evident in the lyrics they write.
"I want to give people something that will actually impact their lives. I don't want to merely entertain. Only Jesus can truly change a life," says Alan.
Both these performers know that together they are stronger than they would be alone. Joanna, Alan, and Jesus Christ form a cord of three Strands that won't quicky be broken.
Thanks man. I really appreciate that. We miss you guys. We're coming back to Cleveland for some events the first two weeks of next month for our new cd. Do you have any ideas of places we can play while we're there? We'd love to do something together with you guys while we're there.
To celebrate the release of our new EP entitled "Change" we are planning a FREE Concert event with special guests Ryan Wilkins and Madison East. The show will be held at WorldView Community Church in Olmsted Falls, OH on November 29th (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). Show starts at 7 pm. Remember it's free so help us get the word out.
Hey Duncans, Thanks so much for the message- we really miss you guys too. Things are going really well for us down here in C-bus... God is FAITHFUL & we continue to be in awe of Him working in our lives! We'll be in town next weekend & at 707... hopefully we'll get to hang out.
Three strands of a chord make for a very strong chord. Two strands of a chord are also strong, but not as strong as a chord with three strands. Four strands would be even stronger than three strands though, so if you guys could be four strands that would be great. Five strands would be right out.
you guys make a great team & are an awesome example of what relationships are all about,to bring two people closer to God for his purpose & Glory Repaid is amazing. keep it up much love, Brandon "From Jambe'" Hawkins
