INTERVIEW WITH GREG - Hollywood, CA Feb. 08>-------------------------<
THROAT OYSTER started as a joke in 1996, when all 4 members were in 6th grade. One thing they've become known for is their constantly changing lineup (Foffle actually became the only original member before the band has even played their first show in 1997!) They released their first live demo, "Live in Campbell, CA." on the now defunct Crackhouse Entertainment in July '99. December '99, the "Evolution is a Whore" ep came out. At the very end of 2001, they released the 1st full length "How to be a Winner" and then re-released it in 2003 on Miscellaneous Productions (that's the version most of you have) with an extra track.
The band continued to play fairly often, and despite constant lineup changes (particularly drummers) gained a decent following. By summer 2005, due to infighting and millions of other reasons, Throat Oyster officially disbanded for almost a year. Then, in May of 2006, the band did a breif tour of California to celebrate 10 years, at which point they decided to do a full-on reunion (minus Eric Dumb, who was busy chillin' like fuck in some other country somewhere).
As the years have progressed, so have the lineups, leaving Foffle and Greg as the core members of the group. In June 2008, Throat Oyster finally released the long-awaited "Car Accidents, Terrorist Attacks, Rape Threats and Nuclear Holocausts" EP from 2003, coupled with the brand newly recorded "Pissed as Fuck" EP on the "DOUBLE PENATRATION- 2 EPs in One CD" album.
Since then, they've also been featured on 2 compilations, they've shot their first promo video, and of course have kept shifting lineups. I guess some things just never change. Throat Oyster is currently working on a split with the Kilz and Death Valley Meth Lab, as well as a full length album they hope to release next year.
