As with so many tragic stories, Throne of Norns began as an ill-considered and tasteless joke. It was August, 2007, in the city of Kingston, NY. An aspiring young death/grind band was searching in vain for an opening act to one of its first shows, but fifteen minutes before the gig was scheduled to begin, had still found no one. At the crucial instant, a mysterious, disguised stranger appeared, and announced that he was the opening act. "What's you're name?" they asked. He answered: "I am THRONE OF NORNS!" With as many gimmicks (and as much makeup) as a desperate transvestite stripper, a battery of lame acerbic puns, and a few wretchedly commonplace black metal songs literally pulled from thin air, Throne of Norns became a permanent stain in the fabric of an otherwise respectable metal scene.

At last, over a year after its unlikely inception,Throne of Norns brings you its first official album, Godfather Death. Written and recorded in less than a month, with one guitar, one microphone, and a single snare drum, Godfather Death is a complete and self-contained Gothic-glam-metal-death-rock opera, based on the Grimms' fairy tale of the same name, and telling a story of love, hubris, and power-lust in an era when--like our own--not even a king could find affordable health care.
