I first saw the Thrones play in San Diego at the Che in the 1998 sometime. He covered "The Trees" off Rush's seminal Hemispheres. Changed my life.
Just trying to get his music out there to as many people as possible. I suggest buying as many of his records as you can afford so he will have more money = more time to write more songs and put out a new record with new songs which he hasn't done in over six years. I will not seek out and add anybody but I will accept any requests (within reason).

Thrones is the solo project of bassist Joe Preston.
The project began in 1994, first surfacing with an untitled cassette on the Punk in My Vitamins label. The Reddleman seven-inch soon followed, and then a split single with Behead The Prophet, No Lord Shall Live. In 1996, Thrones signed to Communion Records to issue the full-length album Alraune. A move to Kill Rock Stars preceded the single "The Suckling." A compilation, Some Songs, appeared soon after. In late 1997, Preston began a recording project under the working title "White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit". The project was eventually released as two 12 inch EPs; White Rabbit in 1999, followed by Sperm Whale in 2000. Both EPs were compiled in the Sperm Whale CD. In 2005, a compilation of various Thrones material spanning from 1994 to 2001 was released by Southern Lord Records under the title Day Late, Dollar Short.
After an extended hiatus beginning in 2001, Thrones began performing live again in May of 2006.

I first saw Thrones at The(now defuct, and gentrified)Edge in Palo Alto. preston was opening up for two favorites(The Ex+Fugazi) I had no idea how monumental my experience would be, or who the hell Thrones was. (oh hell, now the cheeze is melting)When Preston was first setting up I thought "goddamn, that roadies' the only one out there" then the "roadie" played his set. It would blow me away from my quintcential, stereotyped view of what Metal should be. Thank you Joe for the inspiration. Eat some bears on me, and keep your black blade under constant supervision.
