THRU THE STATIC, an all-original alternative rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota was the brain-child of guitarist Dustin Phillips and bassist Josh Hetterick. After meeting through a flier on the wall of a local teenage rock club in 2001, Dustin and Josh soon became close friends. Months of jam sessions lead to a unique and exciting new sound that eventually turned into a great new band.
In 2003, Dustin and Josh released their first album, “Pictures of Ashes” under the name Discombobulated. Shortly after the release of their first album, they became more experimental and developed a tighter sound and more creative vocal harmonies.
In 2006, Thru the Static added veteran drummer TJ Kammer. They soon wrote, recorded and released their sophomore album, “How the Story Goes.” In the spring of that year they caught the attention of Covalent Music Group, who immediately signed Thru the Static to their first recording contract.
Since then, the group has been working on their new self-titled album that NOW AVAILABLE on iTunes, Amazon, Cheapo, Electric Fetus, and at all shows! Along with the release of the new record, a Midwestern tour will be scheduled for the spring and summer of 2008. In the meantime, Thru the Static continues to play shows in and around Minnesota, giving fans just a taste of their new album before the spring release.
The band and record company are excited to be working on new opportunities and endeavors together. Thru the Static is looking forward to getting back on tour and playing in larger venues and meeting new folks all around the Midwest.
