"Thomas Walter, 27 ans, enregistre sous le nom de T depuis une dizaine d’année. Entouré de son ami d’enfance Redge et de ses cousins Spide et Renz, il sort un premier album en 2001, sur le label familial Vergo. Il fait ses premiers concerts, seul avec son rhodes et commence à captiver les publics de Strasbourg où il s’est installé pour ses études. Il distribue régulièrement des cdr de ses chansons qu’il compose et continue en parallèle d’enregistrer au 4 pistes. Il co-fonde le label Herzfeld dont il ouvre le catalogue en 2005 avec son second album éponyme qui recueille de bonnes chroniques (Les Inrockuptibles, Magic) jusqu’en Angleterre (Plan B). Il se produit sur scène en formation (cordes, rhodes, batterie, guitare) ou en solo (guitare, voix ou piano, voix). Dès 2006, il s’attache à l’enregistrement de Bau (à prononcer comme dans ‘neubauten’), son nouvel album dans lequel il frotte ses chansons à des arrangements de cordes. In 2001, 20 year-old Thomas Walter recorded his first album in the artists collective Vergo: his album resembles a b-movie. It’s a concept album which covers his teenage years, moving from his time spent in his hometown of Goetzenbruck (in the northern Vosges, North East France) to the polytechnic schools in the grey suburbs of Strasbourg (France). After this sombre and distressing album which appeared as an ep (now out of print), he wrote a huge amount of songs that he gave out to his friends or distributed around local record shops and cafés in carefully packaged CDRs for interested strangers.
From this collection which makes up a real little treasure, he picked out a few songs to record his second album which is coming out on Herzfeld records. His aerial music reveals itself through hypnotizing melodies, spacious arrangements, layered vocals and arranged rhythms.

"On his first album, B-category Film, French songwriter T regularly talked about the school playground with his fears and anguish totally intact. Never had the wall between the schoolyard and the psychitaric ward been this thin. Never had France been so close to fucked-up Americana. Since B-category Film, T has obviously left his isolated home village of Goetzenbruck and discovered manners : this is not hi-fi yet, but lo-fi with elegance and forms. If the influences remain strictly American, they have evolved from the most primitive form of rural songwriting to a sophisticated transcription of melnacholy that owes more to the agitated tranquillity of some of Neil Young or Low’s finest songs, than to the one-chord-on-a-broken-guitar squalid scribbling of most lo-fi bonsai songwriters. This is electronica, but only by default. Because great guitarists or Glockenspiel players are probably hard to find in the Vosges Mountains, T still plays around with boot-sale computers and Salvation Army keyboards. And how frustrating it must be to keep great songs such as ‘Anna’ or ‘Pink & Red’ in poverty. Life’s a bitch, when you’re born in Goetzenbruck, and a pretty destitute bitch at that. "

Bonjour et merci :) En effet nous étions frais pour ce premier concert de ce vendredi à Belfort et la scène la plus agréable, mais si tu as vu des sourires, de l'appréciation de la part des festivaliers c'est aussi parce que c'était rudement bien. Très agréable surprise. Pour les titres myspaciens, j'aime beaucoup Dead right now. Ce fut un plaisir de vous voir sur scène :)
Neuvième numéro de l'émission hebdomadaire MicroOndes diffusée sur Téléalsace. Au programme cette semaine la photographe Nathalie Mohadjer qui a exposé à la galerie Chambre à part de Strasbourg et Buck65, l'enfant terrible du Hip Hop, pionnier du mythique label anticon.

Bon ce serait bien de faire une petite session acoustique pour le Cargo un jour où monsieur T sera dans la capitale (parce que les caméras et le monsieur qui filme c'est à Paris :p) après la session de la Blogothèque... nous serions très très fiers !
