t@b writes original songs which combine polymetric grooves with off-the-wall vocal melodies, funky saxophone riffs, skat percussion and challenging lyrics to create an original yet very listenable sound they call “Post-Cabaret”.
t@b is Ariana Nasr and Andy Flinn who have been collaborating at close range since they met in Toronto 10 years ago. As a band they have gone through several incarnations, arriving at the current post-cabaret pop duo. Ariana is the lead vocalist and she also solos on saxophone and violin. Andy is groovatronic, simultaneously playing foot percussion, vocal percussion and guitar in different measures.
They do sound almost main stream, in an outer-galactic kind of way. Sometimes it'll be jazzy skat with lyrics and phrasing that remind of freestyle hip hop. Sometimes it sounds like a Celtic hoedown, with funky beat-boxing and a jazzier progression. Sometimes they'll conjure up a trippy melancholy and cure it with exuberant songs of pleasure.
9 years ago t@b created their first music video “A Canadian in Berlin” using the very first version of their own software video editing system. Since then, the video has received hundreds of thousands of downloads and attracted the attention of many very cool musicians and lovers of independent, original art. They have since made several more music videos with the ever-evolving video editor, now called ZS4. They are currently working on a live concert DVD from footage obtained at the “Thugs at Bay” CD release concert in December 2007.

Oooops! Thanks for pointing out my error!Hope your evening at Night Kitchen is most wonderful!
No other valley gigs to speak of....we'll still only there two days of the week and usually out in the woods at that! However, things are in motion for us to move back permanently (full-time) to the valley by September as Darrin has enrolled at NSCC in Kentville for an electrical tech course. Also, we just acquired a recording machine so we'll hopefully be busy making albums for ourselves and others!
Aaaawww thanks t@b...you say the nicest things! So yes we play together a bit in the summer - a few gigs and bodhran workshops. You should check out the band from my youth...myspace.com/planetceltica....it's a bit crazy, see what you think. x x x x x
Hi Ariana and Andy, Thanks for giving me the opportunity to play last night. It was a wonderful evening--rich with music and unique voices. I have been enjoying your CD--so many vibrant, melodic songs. I'm glad you addressed global warming in "Wolfville 2050". I hope they won't be water skiing down Main Street in 2050, but if the powers that be don't act soon, who knows... All the best in 2008! Avard
