Welcome, we are THUS : OWLS.
One day, the five of us flew in and landed in Stockholm, Sweden, all from different places on this great wide planet. Since then, we have made it our home, and after we'd all met we decided to explore the world of music together. We are very proud to present "Cardiac Malformations" to you!!
" Again Sweden delivers; bless you Stockholm. I have a strange emotional attraction to Thus:Owls, stemming from an undeniable beauty that somehow seems to give the music an illusive haunting quality. The bass lines are deep and full-sounding and singer Erika Alexanderssons’s voice echoes like a dream. Both minimalist and highly structured in parts, Thus:Owls’ music fuses jazz and pop music using common alliteration and simple timing. Borrowing many of classical music’s common intonations, Thus:Owls’ music has a grand operetta quality, relying on strict composition and timing to have an intensely shattering effect. There’s elements of nineteenth century romanticism and old-fashioned literature, drawing upon images of castles and celebratory feasts but beneath it all you can hear the sound of contemporary recording techniques and modern instrumental arrangements."
"The songs are fantastic, hoarse but sharp, black and merry, hot tempered and leisurely, coquettish and humble, and yes, almost impossible to describe." - Dagens Nyheter 4/5
"Bewlidering good music by Erika Alexandersson (Josef och Erika amongst other groups), whos voice is irresistible close, strong, and weak, with some of the qualitys of Anthony Hegarty. It's pop with experimental ambitions, mostly it finds it's exact way in the choice of soundscape. Almost constantly it's beautiful and suggestive, never conventional. Sometimes like Doors but with crueler syncops and braver orchestration. Erika Alexandersson is on here way to some find something big here. And she has a marvelous great and self-willed band." - Göteborgs Posten 4/5
"Thus Owls new album "Cardiac Malformations" might be the best thing ever happened to me." - Meny
" The feeling that surrounds you is often cinematic. Pictures of John Bauers woods are conjured up and brutaly mixed with twisted musical scenes, as if they were conducted by Lars von Trier." - Fria Tidningen
Erika you're a queen !! The band was so magical at La Cigale last wednesday and I was so sad not to be able to come at the Scopitone two days later (quick round trip). wait for your next gig in Paris... I will not miss it. Until then, just ease my mind thanks to the Takeaway shows Sylvie PS: Love "Cardiac Malformations"
