Except for Charles Taylor - "Ethics of Authenticity" was terrible...
Heroes
he·ro: A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.
1) My grandfather.
2) There were many friends that I have buried in my lifetime, and though their purpose may not have been clear when they were living, it has come out through each of their deaths...
There is no need to wonder if I smile,
she said, because you reason like a child;
your steps do not yet rest upon the truth;
your mind misguides you into emptiness: what
you are seeing are true substances,
placed here because their vows were not fulfilled.
The Divine Comedy
Paradiso ~ Canto III
I lost one of my oldest and closest friends a few months ago. He wasn't the first and he won't be the last. His death just hurts the most. "Lost" and "Every Day" both hit amazingly close to home.
I finally did it! I took my confections to the next level and started a business! A real live business! They are currently available for sale at Custom Coffee in Owatonna! Yay!
I lead a very busy life now a day, but I like it that way. Most of my time is occupied by our little boy (born 4-5-06) and any free time I do have I like to spend with my husband and son. We also have a yellow lab and 3 fish tanks (5 1/2 gallons, 22 gallons, and 55 gallons) and I really like my blue crayfish, named Morton. I'm trying to get another tank setup for saltwater, and in the meantime I'm tracking down some oddball freshwater fish and some clams.
Back in High School I had started a company that did website design, and though I disolved that company after a few years, today I still manage websites for several Minnesota companies, from a glass carving company to a computer forensic investigator. I also currently own 51 domains of my own (some of which I'm selling).
For my full-time job, I am part of a small IS team that is responsible for keeping a family of major companies running throughout the United States. Sometimes it can be as small as a new mouse, other times it means dealing with a group of people to get the robots back in a proper working order. I'm also taking classes for a degree in Supervisory Management with an emphasis on Quality.
I know its strange working in IS since I went to school for culinary arts, but I use that for my own personal advantage since I don't want to commute to a larger city to do it as a full time job. Prior to going to Le Cordon Bleu I was the social chef and sold my own cakes. After graduating I worked for a catering company and then switched gears and I went to work for a third generation candymaker. There I learned the ins and outs of old fashion hand made and hand dipped confections. At that time I was also preparing my own dessert recipes for his restaurant. Now, you better believe I never have unsatisfied friends and coworkers and I continue to sell candies and cakes at the holiday seasons.
Who I'd like to meet: From an unrealistic view point, I'd love to meet Alton Brown, Lewis Black, Phil Gordon, and that Mime in the video above.
From a more realistic viewpoint, I'd like to meet anyone that isn't afraid to talk and "re-meet" the people that I have known and lost touch with over the years. In some cases, putting petty childish differences behind us, after all we're adults now.

The best part about Chinese food...The Fortune Cookie!
I found this and immediately thought about when I was younger and would always try to take my sister's Etch-A-Sketch. After 20+ years I finally have my own! Yay!
Andrea ... every time the holidays roll around, I can't help thinking of your toffee and caramels. I miss going out to eat with you guys. We'll have to talk again real soon! I hope you, Adam, and Michael have a great Christmas!!
I am now in the process of craving one of your sugary, chocolatey, toffee-ee confections. You really should start production again, if anything for a dear friend in need!
HEY!! Happy 2 day Early B-day! Just wanted to stop by early to wish you well in case I cant get to comp =) Have a blast for the 4th but not literally ~.~
