Just me, my friends. I will be posting music as I complete some of my projects. I share these to offer you a perspective of my abilities and possibly even making contact for collabortive projects.
Influences
I can begin with the earliest influences of The Guess Who, 70's R&B, Broadway musicals, Herb Alpert & the Tiujana Brass, Chuck Mangione, Neil Diamond, Tom Jones, all the stuff my parent's had on 8-track cassette, 70's radio play, 101 Spanish Strings....all of these things that my parents and siblings had around the house.
HOWEVER.....
When I stepped into my own frame of mind and began to explore my own fascinations.....Kiss, Rush, Yes, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Police, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Missing Persons, Weather Report, Yellowjackets, Chic Corea, Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Living Color, Zakir Hussain, Ravi Shankar, John McLaughlin...this list is next to impossible to really condense......there are influences from music all over the world that I have not mentioned because, for crying out loud, everything I hear is an influence!!!
Drummer influences: Zakir Hussain, Ravi Shankar, Tony Williams, Terri Bozzio, Danny Carey, Stewart Copeland, Chad Sexton, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Mamady Keita, Baba Olantunji, and a huge shout out to all of my teachers....the most important and incredible influences of all!!!!!
Here is a most inspired influence!!!! ENJOY!!!!
Greetings Musicians!!!
My name is Greg. I am brand new to Austin. Actually, I've been in Austin 1 complete year. I'm here to network in the music community of Austin. I have very successful skills in songwriting and part-writing. I have a wide range of style accomplishment and find satisfaction in playing music of many varieties!!!
My most recent engagement was a heavy metal project full of creative, rhythmic freedom. My thinking and wishes are to be sensitive to the needs of the song. I work diligently at being a tool for a songwriter and in the same person I can be very experimental with part-writing. I am comfortable with all time signatures. Certainly the odd ones are a real joyful challenge!!!
I also offer deep experience in hand percussion and ethnic flavors from around the world. I have an extensive collection of West African instruments which I bring to the table if you're interested in someone to do percussion work outside of the drumset.
I am looking to perform in the local Austin music scene and make contacts in the larger community of our country's music industry. Touring with a group is a personal goal and I am focused in my life towards that achievement!!!
If you are looking for someone to fulfill your drumset/percussion needs please contact me with a message here on my profile!!!
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!
Check out the test results!!
great seeing you the other night, sorry i didn't get to hang out afterwards. enjoyed the show, i've been having rattle tree melodies popping into my head the last couple days.
I found out today that J.D. Folsom died this morning at the Hospice House in Huntington. He had been in a nursing home for many months now with Alzheimer's Disease. Another resident there pushed him over about three weeks ago, and J.D. fell and broke a hip. It's been downhill ever since. He was 72 years old. I had the honor (and fear) of knowing him as a student of his for 5 semesters.
