T i j u q u e r a - Newest Brazilian Music
On the 90s, a strong submersion in the Brazilian rhythms marked the appearance of artists and bands that had rescued our cultural identity. This new MPB (Brazilian music) also made to appear in 1994 - in Florianópolis, a band who presents a pure format of these trends, singing the nature, events of the world and the contemporary man. To this band was given the name Tijuquera, making allusion to uncle Juca, (a man known in the county as Juquera). The band is composed by Márcio DaVila, Zé Caetano, Alexandre DaMaria, Márcio Costa, Rodrigo Poeta, Nilinho Adriano and Emilia Carmona.
Its easy to feel that the sounds of Tijuquera comes from the sea, between one moment and another was born INOXSAMBÁGUA (2000), from the love of who contemplates this immensity of salty water.
In 2001 the boys of Tijuquera moved out to Rio de Janeiro gain experience of living into a big metropolis, a city essentially directed toward the culture and full of contradictions. In the middle of a mess such as Rio, the group searched its identity and in this process was born the second record: OS DEUSES NÃO SÃO OS HOMENS (2004).
The band produced the third CD QUEM QUISER É ISSO AÍ... TIJUQUERA (2006) with a musical experience from those who love its work and its music. They had congregated all musical experiences accumulated on the records of the others CDs, shows, trips, challenges and have come to a time of their career that they would be able to affirm: we are like this

Un grand plongeon dans les rythmes brésiliens a démarqué, dans les années 90, lapparition dartistes et de groupes qui ont retrouvé notre identité culturelle. Cette nouvelle MPB (musique populaire brésilienne) a fait surgir en 1994, à Florianópolis, un groupe qui présente une forme pure de ces nouvelles tendances, chantant la nature, les évènements du monde et de lhomme contemporain. À ce groupe a été donné le nom de Tijuquera, faisant allusion à un « oncle » nommé Juca (connu dans le quartier sous le nom de Juquera). Tijuquera est formé actuellement par Márcio DaVila, Zé Caetano, Alexandre Damaria, Márcio Costa, Rodrigo Poeta, Nilo Adriano et. Emília Carmona.
Cest facile de se rendre compte que le son de Tijuquera vient de la mer, dune atmosphère maritime, entre parties de pêche et sourires est né son premier cd (Inoxsambágua - 2000), fruit de lamour de ceux qui contemplent cette immensité deau salée.
En 2001, les membres de Tijuquera déménagent à Rio de Janeiro et ils connaissent alors vraiment la vie dans une grande métropole brésilienne, une ville essentiellement tournée vers la culture mais qui est aussi marquée par de fortes contradictions sociales. Dans cette ambiance tourmentée, le groupe recherche son identité et cest lors de ce passage que son deuxième cd (Os deuses não são os homens - 2004) voit le jour.
Lorsque Tijuquera lance son troisième cd (Quem quiser é isso aí...Tijuquera - 2006), ils montrent quils aiment décidément la musique quils font. Après les enregistrements des deux premiers cds, les spectacles et les voyages, ils sont aujourd-hui à un stage où ils peuvent enfin dire : « voilà ce que nous sommes... »
Um forte mergulho nos ritmos brasileiros marcou, nos anos noventa, o aparecimento de artistas e bandas que resgataram a nossa identidade cultural. Difundindo de forma muito original os velhos grooves nacionais (como o samba, baião, maracatu e outros), essa nova MPB também fez surgir em 1994 - no sul do país, mais precisamente no bairro do João Paulo em Florianópolis, uma banda que apresenta um formato puro dessas tendências, cantando a natureza, eventos do mundo e do homem contemporâneo. A essa banda, foi dado o nome Tijuquera, fazendo alusão a um tal tio Juca (que é conhecido no bairro por Juquera).
Cd..1 Inoxsambágua (2000)
A banda deixa clara a influência da cidade natal, Florianópolis. Canta as belezas da natureza, da vida à beira mar, do amor de quem contempla essa imensidão de água salgada. A percussão presente, mas ainda tímida. Um disco brasileiro acima de tudo.
Cd..2 Os Deuses Não São os Homens (2004)
No segundo, já com alguns anos de estrada, o som pesado de quem já viveu experiências bem mais desafiantes do que tocar para os amigos. Experiências essas adquiridas quando com o primeiro cd embaixo do braço, a banda troca Florianópolis por Rio de Janeiro. Foi no ano de 2000. Lá divulgam o trabalho, fazem shows não só em terras cariocas, mas também em São Paulo. Foram muito bem-recebidos. E por causa da boa recepção a prefeitura de Paris convida a banda de Floripa a participar do festival de música brasileira que acontece todos os anos lá, a Fête de La Musique. Eles participaram não só de um, mas de dois, por dois anos consecutivos. Depois disso e vivendo no Rio ainda resolveram gravar o segundo cd. E mais uma vez a Tijuquera foi transparente. Com produção de Carlos Trilha. O disco mostra a leitura dos meninos do sul para essa nova realidade que estavam vivendo. O cd chegou mais pesado, com letras que questionam o comportamento humano, as diferenças. Não esqueceram as raízes, mas já não eram mais só aqueles músicos do bairro João Paulo. Com o cd gravado e lançado no Circo Voador no Rio, eles voltaram para lançar o cd na terra natal. Receberam boas críticas dos jornais do sul e também em jornais cariocas. Mas este segundo trabalho foi bem mais além. Ganharam uma reportagem especial no Jornal Hoje, da Rede Globo, participaram, por três verões consecutivos, do programa Câmbio MTV, gravaram dois clips O Céu é mais Além e Eu direi Tu. Os dois video clips foram mostrados também na Feira da Cultura Brasileira, em Londres, onde receberam inúmeros elogios. O CD foi tocado em Portugal, na Rádio Tropical FM. Ufa! A Tijuquera já não era só uma banda de Floripa. E com toda essa bagagem resolvem voltar pra terra natal, comer tainha assada, camarão, pirão dágua e fazer música. Daí surgiu a expressão MPB com peixe Frito. E que coisa boa!

A banda Tijuquera chega no terceiro CD com uma experiência musical de quem vive o amor pela música. Gostam do que fazem e ponto final. Reuniram toda a bagagem musical acumulada nas gravações dos outros dois cds, shows, viagens, desafios e chegaram a um estágio de poder afirmar: somos isso aí...

His fascination with folk styles, classical music, punk rock, pure pop, easy listening, musical theatre and the European avant garde have taken him on different paths from most...
The result is an orchestral pop record full of sonic inventiveness, whether it's the blend of Shuggie Otis's 60s California and Sun Ra's ancient Egypt on 'Bible', Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons leading a mariachi band on 'Escort', or the Walt Disney music box orchestra of 'Miss Dominatrix', but whilst this is very much a sonic feast, we shouldn't overlook Art's extraordinary lyrical adeptness, and the distinctive character this brings to the proceedings, with a knack for unique and colourful imagery, and how like a great short story writer he is able to paint an engaging picture whilst keeping back from casting judgement on his characters, always leaving open ends for the listener to tie; giving us the feeling that however far astray someone might have gone, there is always sympathy and human feeling for them in Art's mind...
