Books
The Road Less Travelled, M. Scott Peck. I'm also big on the Russian classics - Tolstoy, Dostoevsky. Big fan of "The Brothers Karamozov." Though I'm still catching up on them - I do really like Anthony Bourdain's writing style, too. Have read Nabokov's Lolita but - thanks to the movie - couldn't get James Mason's voice out of my head ;). Would like to read Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables" in the original french.
Heroes
Firefighters and cops; hockey players who have withstood incredible pain (broken bones, etc.) to keep playing for their team and win a Stanley Cup.
Bands (like Metallica) who have transformed from angry 20-somethings into wise & mature (yet still fun) adults my age with something to say. Disaster Relief Workers - ever vigilant, always on call, selfless.
Who I'd like to meet: Anthony Bourdain (again), Ron Suskind, Denis Leary, John Scurti, Jon Stewart, Mike Rowe, James Hetfield, Michael Ruhlman, Steve Carell, a very long list of hockey players - mostly recently retired (Scott Stevens, Patrick Roy, Dominic Hasek.
