    ..I love reading God's word, writing, comedy, computers (using and repairing), coin collecting, reading non-fiction books and chatting with friends (old and new).

  • Music

    ..I love traditional country music. My favorite artist is George Jones. I also enjoy Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, Patsy Cline and pretty much anything as long as it's country. I also love Southern Gospel music. When I listen to radio, it's usually the Christian station. Really, I can listen to a lot of music. I don't care for rap, hard rock, hip hop.

  • Movies

    ..The Albert Finney version of Scrooge, most versions of "A Christmas Carol." Other movies I enjoy include Forest Gump, Left Behind, Happy Feet, just to name a few. My movie tastes tend to revolve around holiday or funny films.

  • Television

    I don't watch too much TV. It's usually comedy or special events (such as the Macy's Parade) when I watch.

  • Books

    ..Well, the Bible, of course. After all, it's not just one book, but it's the best 66 books - all under one cover. I read mainly non-fiction books, although I do love the "Left Behind" series.

  • Heroes

    ..Ronald Reagan, George Jones, "Cowboy" Bob Yuma, Billy Anderson, Pastor Pat Malone and the young men and women who proudly wear our country's uniform.

About me:

Well, I used to be a professional wrestling referee/manager/writer (usually under my alter-ego of Dr. Thom Parks). These days, I'm a Christian evangelist and teacher, a writer, a PC technician and a business owner How's that for a varied collection of interests.

I have just finished writing my first book. It's called "Walking With My Savior" and in details my Christian walk from my days as an abused child and my dad's suicide, through my twenty-five year stretch in the pro wrestling business to the present day. It is my hope that it will touch someone's heart and show that God is with you, even when you think he's not. I'm very excited about doing this book. It's available now, and should be available in bookstores in late September or early October.

I thank God that I am blessed to live in the greatest nation on Earth. I am so thankful for my family, my friends and everything I have.

I believe that "religion" kills, but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ saves! My goal each day is to walk so that people see the love of the Lord in me.

When it comes to politics, I'm not always Republican, but I am ..always conservative... I'm not just a member of the "Christian Right," I'm their poster boy! :-)

Now, don't let my political leanings throw you. You don't have to share my political points of view to be my friend. In fact, I have a lot of friends who disagree with me on the subject of politics and that's ok. If the truth be told, I am not so concerned where one stands in the political arena. It is greatly more important where one stands in relation to the cross of Calvary.

I believe it our duty to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves and to help those who are truly in need. I stand behind our military and pray for our leaders. I love my God, my family and my country and will defend them all with all that I have and all that I am...

Who I'd like to meet:

Jesus (and I will someday!), George Washington, Ronald Reagan and George Jones. I would also like to meet anyone who believes that the United States is the greatest country that God has ever given to man; those who love our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I would like to meet those who believe that crime must be punished and that the innocent and helpless must be protected. Ok, I'll step down off of my soapbox for now. God bless.


Over to the left, there is a section called "heores" and the people I've listed there are truly heroes of mine, but I will say that my #1 hero is my nephew Jacob Thomas Compton. The picture above shows Jacob at his 15th birthday last March. He passed away about four months later, on August 3.

As a baby, Jacob had a heart transplant, but he never let that fact dampen his sprit or control his life. He was a great young man who was full of life right up to the end. I wish that everyone had the happy, loving spirit that he had while on this Earth.

I will always remember all the chats we had about my former career in the professional wrestling business. He loved all kinds of sports and he knew a lot about them.

One Day, I know that I'll see my nephew again when it is my time to cross Jordan's rolling tide.

My mother, Joyce Hicks, passed away on May 28, 2008. God blessed me and my sisters and brother with the best mom ever! Here is a video that the funeral home put together for Momma. Since she was a huge George Jones fan, I have overdubbed the generic music the mortuary included with one of George's most appropriate songs. I hope you enjoy it.
